Pope as the katechon

edit

In conjunction with the Prophecy of the Popes that tell us that Pope Benedict XVI is the last or second to last Pope (depends on the interpretation), the Pope very well may be the katechon. 178.201.16.24 (talk) 06:01, 5 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

I just saw that the Prophecy of the Popes is already linked under "See Also". So the theory that the Pope is the katechon doesn't seem that far fetched if others thought of it too. 178.201.16.24 (talk) 06:17, 5 March 2012 (UTC)Reply
The Holy Pope in conjunction with The Great Monarch could also fullfil the Katechon-function. --Stijn Calle (talk) 17:44, 5 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

notability

Is this a real thing beyond Paolo Virno?--Richardson mcphillips (talk) 19:11, 29 May 2015 (UTC)Reply

This looks fine in terms of notability, links out to relevant pages, is clear and concise, but appropriately so.
By page read is apparently useful to readers who find it. Tim bates (talk) 12:27, 1 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

There should be a mention of the Katechon being the Holy Spirit.

edit

John Macarthur, for example, believes that the Katechon as the Holy Spirit remains within the world until the Rapture, meanwhile leading the Church to be the salt of the earth and the light that is in the world. And for the Church's sake the Holy Spirit inhibits men under the power of Satan from "turning it up to 11" when it comes to indulging in evil and promoting it throughout the world. But after the Rapture, there is no more Holy Spirit living in the members of the Church to restrain mankind from backsliding all the way to absolute horrific and gruesome acts of terror and awfulness. It's in this environment that the Man of Sin comes on the scene with seemingly all the answers to the world's outbreak of disorder threatening the continuance of civilization itself. And if there are believers that are saved in those future days they may be filled with the Holy Spirit but it will not be with the Spirit as Katechon any more, because the judgments are coming. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2600:1700:E3F0:47A0:1C88:E251:3EB4:A733 (talk) 05:44, 2 October 2019 (UTC)Reply
