Tilikum

The calf's father is Tilikum, just as he fathered several of Katina's previous calves. The pregnancy was unplanned, due to gate interactions between Katina and Tilikum. I am a senior trainer at SeaWorld of Florida and the information I provided is correct! I have been with the company, since we first received Katina. Please stop adding un-sourced information to this article, which is vandalism! I have noticed that you have edited other pages with un-sourced information. Please do not destroy the orcas, by ommiting trainer's information and typing in whatever you believe to be true. That is vandalism and will be dealt with accordingly! Even though you claimed to have spoken to a SeaWorld trainer, we are not officially releasing any information. Honestly, we just started discussing the calf's name and meaning. We are rather behind with the transfer of Taku, Ikaika, and Kayla. Unfortunately, the move needed to occur rather suddenly for the welfare of the calf and Katina. Continually, we are still in the process of performing Trua's yearly exam and blood work. The calf just received her check-up and we will officially release a statement regarding the gender and a name. Furthermore, several calves have been born from the AI program, in which some were successful births and some were not successful. Therefore, you are incorrect by claiming three cows have been used in the AI program. Besides, Katina & Kalina have never been a part of the AI program, since they breed successfully. In addition, SeaWorld only uses the AI program within our facilities so we would never loan sperm to the Miami Sea Aquarium. However, we do loan orcas to other facilities around the world, in order to initiate a breeding program. Thank you for your understanding and corporation! This IP address is deliberately editing several articles with incorrect information. Several trainers, including myself, have cleaned up those pages with the correct information. We even started a discussions page to inform the user of their incorrect information. However, this user continues to revert back to the incorrect information and ignores all warnings. Therefore, the talk pages shows a long history of abuse warnings and user contributions history with numerous active vandalism. References needed on disputed text

Does anybody have a reference link for the disputed text (father of the new calf)? Without verifiability, it's just a clash of opinions. References for the rest of the article (and onces like it) would improve the article greatly, as well. -- ArglebargleIV 15:32, 22 December 2006 (UTC)

Continuing on this -- has Elizabeth Thomas written anything about the father of the new calf? Is that information on the SeaWorld web page anywhere? Answering Questions

Hello, I would just like to answer your questions! As previously mentioned, I am Katina's trainer and I have been working with her since she came to SWF. SeaWorld has not officially released any information regarding the calf. However, we are in the process of finding a name for our precious little girl. Furthermore, we are incapable of obtaining a blood sample from her, until she reaches one year old. As previously mentioned, we have obtained Trua's blood work, in order to confirm his paternity. Therefore, SeaWorld will not release the calf's paternity for at least a year from now. Ever since the Tilikum incident, Night Watch employees and Shamu Staidum trainers watch the orcas 24 hours a day. Continuing, Tilikum and Katina initiated sex through the gate and within a couple of months we confirmed Katina's unplanned pregnancy. I am just so fed up with children making untruthful and un-sourced accusations, that I needed to step in. By the way, editing the page and leaving in my citation is plagiarism and personal vandalism. I am a credible source and I would never state anything than the truth-Tilikum is the calf's father. I suggest someone delete this page entirely or block the specified users from editing the page. • Hello. I've got a few responses to your responses...

1. I can believe that you're Katina's trainer, and I can believe you're telling the truth, but the problem is that anybody can create an id like "SWF Senior Trainer" and claim to be a SeaWorld trainer. (Myself, with an id like "ArglebargleIV", I'm not claiming to be anybody other than someone who wants to remain anonymous.) One of the basic principles of Wikipedia is verifiability rather than truth -- Wikipedia is a synthesis of other sources, and not a primary source itself. (Essentially, Wikipedia ideally would not say that something was true, it would say that somebody else said it is true.) The various reversions by "kids" (it could be people acting childish, or just plain vandals, or even someone with differing information, btw) are one thing, but I (and the Wikipedia community, and the readers as well) don't know that you're actually a SeaWorld trainer, and I don't know that you're a credible source. Besides, even if you were, it's better that it be published or released somewhere, due to Wikipedia's policy on original research-- although actually getting a verified expert in here is good! We NEED more experts. Anyway, that's why Wikipedia depends on verifiable references. I think the best approach is to say that SeaWorld has not as yet announced the parentage of the new calf, because that is all that's been released.
2. I wonder whether all the separate articles about each cetacean at SeaWorld is really necessary --perhaps a combined article covering all of the them in slightly less "familiar" depth? But that's another question for another day.
3. What exactly do you mean by "By the way, editing the page and leaving in my citation is plagiarism and personal vandalism." Please explain further.
4. To block a user for vandalism at all requires that that user be warned first, usually a few times -- read the links for vandalism and Edit war for some explanation. Anyway, the IP addresses editing this haven't been warned enough (or in some cases, at all).

Geez!

Somebody deleted everything! Anyway, I am tired of fighting and I agree with whomever included the three "supposed" fathers within the text. Hopefully, the youngsters will stop editing the information now that everyone should be happy. In response to your questions, you may not believe me and that is your prerogative. However, all of the SeaWorld trainers know the truth and I will be proven correct. Remember the old adage, "The truth always comes out!" The by the way comment pertained to people editing my text and changing it to their believes. Meanwhile, those individuals kept my cited information so their lies appeared true. Anyway, all of this fighting is taking up too much of my time, as well as everyone elses. Again, I am just crushed to have false information out there, especially when it involves my girl (Katina).
