origin of the name
edithi, who knows the origin of the word "katyn"? Is it Turkic or something?
Not stub
editThis is not only a stub, it is also purest POV. War crimes have to be handled with care (sounds strange, I know).
4000
editWhat is the source of this 4000 figure please ? Lysy 18:50, 22 Mar 2005 (UTC)
What happened to this text
edit27 000 in Katyn? What is it about? Xx236 11:50, 12 January 2006 (UTC)
- The highest estimate I have found is 25,700 [1]. It's likely this was some mispelling, I have corrected the article to give the lowest to highest estimates.--Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus Talk 05:34, 14 January 2006 (UTC)
Text now gives two contradictory figures - and the topic is fully covered in the Katyn massacre page. So I'm deleting it.--Jack Upland 04:43, 16 January 2006 (UTC)
Move
editI suggest moving it to Katyn (village), and redirecting it to Katyn massacre (with a note 'Katyn redirects here') or at least creating an outright disambig. I am pretty sure 99% of people searching for Katyn are looking for the information about the massacre, not for the village.--Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus Talk 18:43, 2 May 2006 (UTC)
- Good idea. I agree with you. Jacek Kendysz 12:25, 14 May 2006 (UTC)
- done. //Halibutt 08:21, 6 June 2006 (UTC)
pronunciation
editIf anyone knows how to pronounce Katyn, please post it.
- See Talk:Katyn massacre. //Halibutt 08:21, 6 June 2006 (UTC)
- Only "Kа́tyn". See the official Russian website http://katyn-memorial.ru —Preceding unsigned comment added by Baffet (talk • contribs) 20:38, 17 April 2010 (UTC)
Savenkov
editSavenkov part is flawed and in any case is not directly relevant to the article about the _village_. Since this is fully addressed in the Katyn massacre article, deleting. --Sergey Romanov (talk) 13:43, 24 February 2008 (UTC)

Source 5
editHi there, I was reading source 5 George Sanford.Katyn and the Soviet Massacre of 1940: Truth, Justice and Memory and page 70-77 is what is sourced. However, reading these pages I have not found any account and even infact the opposite:
" No document has emerged, and we just do not know if it ever will, reveal-ing what Beria and his top NKVD associates considered doing with the PoW "
Is this an issue? Graecia0 (talk) 20:48, 28 September 2023 (UTC)
