War of 1812?
edithttp://evols.library.manoa.hawaii.edu/bitstream/10524/203/2/JL36065.pdf "George Prince Kaumuali'i, the Forgotten Prince" describes an interesting story about his travels to America in the war of 1812, and role in bringing the American missionaries, probably an important linkage to describe. - George Prince Kaumuali'i was the illegitmate son of Kaumaulii by a common woman by the name of Niihau. He went to America for an education and fought in the war. It should be a seperate article.
Yes, that checks out with my sources. I propose naming that article "George Kaumualii", replacing the redirect that goes to this one. There is actually a decent amount written about the younger George, who was known as "Tamoree" to the Missionaries. I will work on it. W Nowicki (talk) 04:08, 30 October 2009 (UTC)
- Or George P. Kaumualii, it would state that the Prince is a name not a title.--KAVEBEAR (talk) 12:31, 31 October 2009 (UTC)
Yes, I think he considered himself the "Prince" of the kingdom of Kauaʻi, but did not know that it was effectively becoming defunct while he was in the US. I cannot find any source that says the mother was "Niʻihau", I suspect that is a misunderstanding because the island of that name was part of the kingdom. My sources do list a wife of the older Kaumualiʻi named "Deborah Kapule". Also I find no source that uses the name "Peke" for the younger George. His wife used that name, so that was probably also a confusion. The "P." I think stood for "Prince". Still researching. W Nowicki (talk) 03:09, 1 November 2009 (UTC)
Keawe
editIt is seems that between Kamakahelei and Kaumualii there was a mysterious person by the name of Keawe.--KAVEBEAR (talk) 00:49, 21 March 2012 (UTC)
