... that Kawade Shibatarō co-developed the moriage ("piling up") technique which gave enamel art works a three-dimensional effect (example pictured)? Source: "Another enamelling innovation was moriage ("piling up"): this painstaking technique [...] involved building up layers of enamel to produce a three-dimensional effect [...]. Both Kawade Shibataro and Hattori Tadasaburo are credited with the discovery of this technique. The effects of the moriage technique can be clearly seen in Kawade's tall vase from around 1905 [referring to the vase depicted here]" Gregory Irvine, Japonisme and the rise of the modern art movement, p. 181. Overall: 5x expansion and long enough. Sources seem good and seems free of plagiarism ([1]). Pic intended will be too long for the DYK, I would suggest to use an image like this File:Japanese cloisonne type Moriage shippo.jpg. The article in general could use a better layout of images and usage of quality images. All hooks are cited. Text is fine. QPQ is done. Gryffindor (talk) 22:40, 22 July 2020 (UTC)Reply
