Proper designation
editWhat is this aircraft's proper designation - the article uses a mix of "C-X", "XC-2" and "C-2". It isn't always clear which designation relates to which stage of the development process. As I understand it the initial design was called "C-X", the test prototype(s) "XC-2" and the actual certified production version is the "C-2". I'm not at all sure that I understand it correctly and the article (as it is now) doesn't really help to clarify the matter. Roger (talk) 08:18, 11 November 2010 (UTC)
- The development program was designated C-X, The first prototype is designasted XC-2, the procurement program is designated C-2. Seemples, yes.Petebutt (talk) 09:39, 13 January 2011 (UTC)

Kawasaki C-2 → Kawasaki XC-2 – To reflect the name of the aircraft rather than the procurement program. Per Kawasaki Heavy Industries' own website: http://www.khi.co.jp/english/aero/product/airplanes/xc_2.html memphisto 12:39, 3 October 2012 (UTC)
- Oppose the XC-2 is only the prototype, if it doesnt go into production it may be appropriate but it is certain the series build aircraft will be C-2s. MilborneOne (talk) 18:36, 4 October 2012 (UTC)
