editDeyna did not die in his favorite BMW. I believe it was a dodge but definitely not a BMW. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.84.167.50 (talk) 02:40, 28 February 2009 (UTC)
The numbers do not add up
editIf you look at the Manchester City stats then the article claims 38 appearances with thirteen goals scored. But the senior clubs claims 39 but still 13 goals. However in career statistics it back to 38 appears but 14 goals.
Another issue senior clubs has his time at Legia Warsaw as 390 appearances but career statistics 305 in Poland. Senior club has San Diego Sockers as 90 appearances but career statistics has 106 appearances in US.
Can anyone explain the why there are differences else know which the correct figures are? Jniech (talk) 13:39, 16 December 2008 (UTC)
- The usual reason is that conflation of league and cup appearances has occurred at some point along the line, sometimes its just an honest mistake or conflicting sources. I can't speak for the figures for other clubs, but the definitive Manchester City - The Complete Record lists League apps 34 + 4 sub, 12 goals, FA Cup 2 apps, no goals, League Cup 2 apps, no goals, European 1 sub app, 1 goal. Total 38 + 5, 13 goals. Oldelpaso (talk) 14:17, 16 December 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for the reply/changes to article. What about using the statistics from Kazimierz Deyna Official Website which is in the external links to fill in the rest? It explains the different in Legia Warsaw (390) and total for Poland (305) by including cup/european games. Is a reliable source? Jniech (talk) 14:53, 16 December 2008 (UTC)
- Comparing the Manchester City stats on that site with my books, it appears that it doesn't include substitute appearances, except for the UEFA Cup, where his only appearance was as sub. Aside from that its difficult for me to check its credentials as I can't read Polish. The question as to how someone who died in 1989 can have an official website springs to mind. If you speak Polish, I'd hazard a guess that this page has the relevant details. Oldelpaso (talk) 15:42, 16 December 2008 (UTC)
Afraid my Polish is pretty basic. Still I wonder if his family is involved “Specjalne podziękowania i pozdrowienia dla pani Marioli i Norberta Deyny” I think translates to “Special thanks and greetings for Mrs Mariola and Norberta Deyna”. I will e-mail some Polish friends to see if they are willing to translate some of the website for me.
Another thought could we take the figures from his Polish wikipedia page? Jniech (talk) 16:23, 16 December 2008 (UTC)
Close translation, but a little incorrect. You got the first part right. It reads "Special thanks and greeting for/to (Mrs) Mariola (Deyna, Kazimierz Deyna's wife) and Norbert Deyna (his son)" Norum (talk) 12:24, 10 July 2009 (UTC)

Added Club appearances and goals for Legia Warsawa // Deyna did not play in "Ektraklasa" the term is recent like English Premier League and thus inaccurate
edithttp://www.legia.net/historia/index.php?s=zawodnik&id=81
Used this reliable site, goes into match details, as when the goals were scored. I followed Cruijff's template on his page and went on to add the international appearances/goals for Deyna with a source link to the rsssf page.
Under "League" in the Career chart/table, should the Polish League be called Ekstraklasa? As far as I know the term Ekstraklasa is recent, and no one called the Polish domestic league, Ekstraklasa, back in the 1970's, example in match commentaries from the 1974 World Cup when referring to some fact relating to the player in the domestic league they would say w polskiej lidze, but now in the present day, the commentators always say w ekstraklase...Zurawski ma 10 bramki or something of the sort. Baisically the English domestic league was not called the EPL back in the day, but rather the First Division and I am certain neither was the Polish league called Ektraklasa - I just do not know what the offical term would be to replace it...Polska Liga Piłki Nożnej (Polish Football League) or Liga PZPN? Thoughts?
