Killers were elderly?
editWhy does the article state this but not mention anything backing up the claim???? --Ragemanchoo (talk) 07:50, 31 May 2008 (UTC)
Keddie Murders and The Strangers
editBased on a discussion on The Strangers page information regarding the Keddie Murders was removed from this article. These murders were not a hoax of any kind. Here are some fairly new links to information on the Keddie murders from the Plumas County News: 25 year-old slayings still haunt people, Sheriff takes new path after thirty years. It doesn't really matter to me whether the movie is based on these murders or not. But these murders did happen, and with all of these sources there is no reason why anyone should continue to remove information from the Keddie, California page. I am reversing the changes made. piper108 (talk) 20:44, 8 June 2008 (UTC)
=A line claiming that this case as the inspiration for the murders was re-added to the page. I deleted it for 3 reasons: 1 - no citation verifying claim, 2 - Liv Tyler (the lead actress) explains that the screenwriter's inspiration was an incident from his childhood, when a stranger came to the door of his home looking for someone he'd never heard of, and then he learned that empty houses in the area had been robbed, and 3 - there is VERY little similarity between The Stranger and The Keddie Murders. The primary similarity is that both occurred in remote locations. In the real-life case, one witness has said he heard one of the killers use the victim's name, indicating they may not be strangers; three people in the house were killed, three others in the house survived and the seventh's fate was unknown until her remains found a few years later, roughly 90 miles from the cabin. Without some kind of citation, no reference to this event as the inspiration of the movie should be included as it appears to be no more than a rumour. Thorswitch (talk) 03:16, 5 July 2008 (UTC)
This isn't The Keddie Murders article
editI'm replacing the over-long discussion of the murders with a "see also" link to their own article. This is an article about the community of Keddie, not the murders. See WP:COATRACK. Thanks. Delicious carbuncle ([[User tal$%^&*(
