In this file you pronounce 'Kedleston' with a distinct /-les-/. Could you please state your source for this pronunciation? (The Oxford guide to the pronunciation of place names has /-lst-/) Thanks, Boles Shikmim (talk) 00:50, 8 November 2010 (UTC)
- It's the way I and everyone I know has pronounced it for the last seventy-odd years Chevin (talk) 11:00, 8 November 2010 (UTC)
PS: I've just discovered John Maidment's Blog Chevin (talk) 11:51, 8 November 2010 (UTC)
- PPS: Do you mean the BBC Pronouncing Dictionary of British Names wich is published by the OUP? Chevin (talk) 12:42, 8 November 2010 (UTC)
- Yes, this is the book I ment. But I uppose local pronunciation is a better reference than a dictionary. Thanks for the link! Boles Shikmim (talk) 07:05, 10 November 2010 (UTC)

- User:Boles Shikmim quotes the 1971 edition. THe source of the information is not given except very vaguely in the Foreword. It has been dropped from the latest 2006 edition. Chevin (talk) 16:50, 5 March 2015 (UTC)
It's great to hear this pronunciation as I was really surprised when I came back to Derbyshire after 40 years living elsewhere to hear lots of people not us g it any more! Let's start a campaign to have it as the correct pronunciation! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Wilmotj (talk • contribs) 23:03, 6 November 2019 (UTC)
