The editor of the first version of this page is User:Thea17. On the corresponding user page, the following was written to explain my indepence:
I am Thea17, Ph.D. in Mathematics and working as a mathematical consultant at a Dutch company. Recently, I became a member of the Dutch chapter of EWM, which started a Wikipedia project last year. In this project, I translated the English Wikipedia article of the Dutch mathematician Margot Gerritsen into a Dutch version. I did really enjoy this work, and decided to keep up by adding applied-math-related material to Wikipedia. The first new article I created was related to prof.dr.ir. C. Vuik, since he got well noticed by the Dutch mathematical community after receiving a royal-honors medal for his outstanding work. His Dutch Wikipedia article has been published and improved since June 2022.
During this article creation on the Dutch Wikipedia, I became more and more enthusiastic about contributing to the encyclopedia. I also started to investigate and improve the English Wikipedia articles. For example, I fixed a wrong redirect of Proper Orthogonal Decomposition to the article Proper orthogonal decomposition. Furthermore, I noticed there didn't exist a Dutch article for Numerical linear algebra, a very important field in applied mathematics and data science. Therefore, I started the translation of this article, which contains a lot of revisions and offline work. To keep on track with the use of editing in Wikipedia I started to also translate the existing Dutch article of prof.dr.ir. C. Vuik to English. The translation was not too difficult fortunately, I was able to finish the work in one evening. However, the submission rules for creating an English Wikipedia article appeared to be different from the Dutch rules. For example, I found out that at least 10 edits should be made before I was able to publish. Since the article was not complete yet, this resulted in some more edits, and even a wrong publish to a user page instead of an article. Sorry for that! Fortunately, at the end of the evening, I managed to fix all problems, and even link the English article to the corresponding Dutch version.
Both the Dutch and the English Wikipedia articles only refer to verifiable sources that can easily be checked by the reader. Furthermore, I am not paid for writing Wikipedia articles. This can also easily be seen by the timing of the edits: they correspond to 9 pm Dutch time, when the Friday weekend already started. Thea17 (talk) 20:27, 21 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
