Unsure as to why this article has been deleted in the past, but Kelly Racing has formed in 2009 as a new V8 Supercars Australia team, owned by John and Margaret Kelly. This article has been created much in the same light as articles on other teams in the series, such as Perkins Engineering and Holden Racing Team.
As this team is only officially launching this evening (02 March, 2009) - details are thin at this stage, but will be available when their official website launches in a couple of hours from now - 17:30 hours (GMT+11).
- I have removed the speedy. This is a fully professional team and competition. While the team is not an 'individual' professional sportsperson, in the absence of a more appropriate guideline the article appears consistent with WP:ATHLETE. Debate 木 06:57, 2 March 2009 (UTC)
- Then add the details AFTER its official, not before. And you've cited V8 Central web forums as a source which is ABSOLUTELY unacceptable. You're an experienced Wiki-editor, you know better. Get the official announcement, then add it, do not anticipate it with web forums rumours.
- It was deleted previously if I remember correctly because the previous article was completely made up of unsubstantiated rumours. --Falcadore (talk) 07:15, 2 March 2009 (UTC)
- Rather than being a tool and destroying other people's work - how about you put it in yourself? That's the idea of Wikipedia - add and expand on other people's work. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mwyres (talk • contribs) 09:23, 2 March 2009 (UTC)
- Please, have a read of WP:Verifiability and WP:CBALL. I think you will find within the actual idea of Wikipedia, written out. --Falcadore (talk) 10:36, 2 March 2009 (UTC)
- You could still have put it in Mwyres (talk) 23:25, 2 March 2009 (UTC)
- I did not have an appropriate source to substitute it with. There is another user, a list making addict, who collects rumours from various forums pages and attempts to present it as actual confirmations and routinely ignores requests to provide an accurate official sources. The Wikipedia standard is to be accurate, first time, and to not print it at all if it is only a rumour and that forum pages are completely unsuitable as references. How could I not hold your work up to the same standard? --Falcadore (talk) 03:32, 3 March 2009 (UTC)
I think that now that the team is up and running and has made it's debut, I've done a quick full article tidy, and I think this is the "base" article that can now be expanded as things go forward. Mwyres (talk) 02:33, 24 March 2009 (UTC)
Article name post 2018
editWhile probably a formaility, given that it may require admin intervention who may require evidence of a consensus, does anybody have any objections or alternative suggestions to the article being renamed back to Kelly Racing at the conclusion of the 2018 season in line with the teams stated intention to rebrand? https://www.speedcafe.com/2018/09/08/plans-to-revive-kelly-racing-brand-progressing-for-2019/ Impala27 (talk) 01:19, 2 October 2018 (UTC)
- @Impala27 — yes, I have an objection: the team's stated intention. They haven't changed the name yet, so moving the article is premature. 1.144.110.100 (talk) 10:11, 27 October 2018 (UTC)
- For clarity, was only proposing that the article be renamed after the conclusion of the 2018 season, hence the statement "at the conclusion of the 2018 season", apologies if I was not clear. Impala27 (talk) 02:00, 8 November 2018 (UTC)
- The article should only be renamed once we know what it is. Don't go renaming it to Kelly racing just because the calendar has clicked over or the last race has been held. Confirm what the teams 2019 name is, then move it. Until then, leave it alone. --Falcadore (talk) 05:33, 9 November 2018 (UTC)
- Support Third party sources Auto Action and Speedcafe have both reported the team will be resurrecting the Kelly Racing brand including quotes from the team's management. Fecotank (talk) 05:04, 26 November 2018 (UTC)
- No. Not yet. I refer you to Wikipedia:News sources.
- Rebranding may happen in the future, but it has not happenned yet. Have patience and wait until the rebrad becomes official. How do I know it is not official? The team website. Here.
- Don't be premature. You do not know that a further rebrand will not take place. Speculation in Auto Action and Speedcafe is just that, speculation. With wikipedia we do not guess. It is an encyclopedia, it's right there in the name, WikiPEDIA. We right what is, not what might be next week or next month.
- If you want to report on news that is reported in papers and websites you can do that at, but do it here, where you are supposed to do that at Wikinews --Falcadore (talk) 23:19, 2 December 2018 (UTC)
- BTW when the page does move then Nissan Motorsport (Australia) should not be a redirect to Kelly Racing but instead should become a disambiguation page reflecting that more than one team has had this name. --Falcadore (talk) 23:30, 2 December 2018 (UTC)
- Multiple articles in multiple publications / websites, have reported that it will (as opposed to speculated) be rebranded Kelly Racing, complete with quotes from the team's management. So clearly it will happen. Seems some are still in denial, oh well time will tell. Thanks Falcadore for volunteering to do all the donkey work, 100+ pages will need to be repointed when disambiguated.
- But thanks for the pearls of wisdom (pfff!), maybe you can share your opinion that we don't write about future events on articles like the 2019 Australian federal election or the 2020 US presidential election. Fecotank (talk) 03:36, 3 December 2018 (UTC)
- So in other words, everyone except the only people who actually matter, the team themselves.
- I will state for you AGAIN, news reporting goes on Wiki News not here. Wikipedia reports on stuff that has already happenned. If you have difficulty with the concept I can point you to the wikipedia policies concerned.
- And we certinly don't call the results of elections like they have already happenned. You change the name of the article when it happens. Not before it happens. --Falcadore (talk) 14:21, 3 December 2018 (UTC)
- No we don't crystal ball, but we can certainly write about future events if verified by reliable sources that they will happen. As to when this article should be renamed, it's all semantics really. The team has made its last public appearance under the Nissan Motorsport, when it next appears it will be as Kelly Racing. But as you are so concerned, quite happy to park it. Just a matter of time now. Fecotank (talk) 00:53, 4 December 2018 (UTC)
- No it isn't semantics. Currently their stated intention is to race in 2019 as Kelly Racing but that is Crystal Balling. You don't know that something else might happen. They might suddenly fold. That is what crystal ball means in wikipedia. You don't presume an outcome. So when the team officially launches, then go for it. --Falcadore (talk) 11:30, 4 December 2018 (UTC)
- Can we move the page now. Even have a vote on it. it has been announce that the new team name is Kelly Racing. I think the best idea now is to move the page via Wikipedia:Requested moves. GCunknown (talk) 05:26, 14 February 2019 (UTC)
