Proposed article rewrite
editThe version of the Ken Layne biography as of this writing is a very poor article. An alarming number of the citations are non-RS, especially for how they are used, and even a few are by the subject himself. It's also quite outdated, is missing some fairly significant events from his career (both old and new), and has scarcely changed since it passed AfC in June 2014.
Recently, Mr. Layne approached me to see if I could address these issues. I agreed to take it up on a contractual basis via my employer, Beutler Ink, and today I have a draft to share that I believe makes for a much more accurate, informative, and well-sourced article. You can find that in my userspace, here:
I'm also mindful that reviewing new drafts by COI contributors can be a hassle, so I want to try something new here—I am also presenting a second version of the draft, also in my userspace, but with each reference formatted separately and the supporting material from each source quoted verbatim. That's also in my userspace, here:
Because of my COI, I'll refrain from editing the article directly, especially given the comprehensive overhaul I recommend. Therefore I am looking for a volunteer editor to review the draft, and implement it, in whole or in part, if they find it to be an improvement. Since there are no significant active editors to this article, I'll simply ping the most active to make any remotely recent content changes, so that's Waitalie Nat and NorthBySouthBaranof. Might one of you have a chance to take a look? WWB Too (Talk · COI) 18:34, 23 May 2018 (UTC)
- Done. I thought it was a better article and the other had serious issues. We should improve things here and I think that is what you have done.Casprings (talk) 13:58, 9 June 2018 (UTC)
- Thanks, Casprings! I am thrilled you've made the update. Now, one more thing that needs to be done still, and I hope you will: re-enabling categories; I had disabled them while they were in my userspace so they didn't show up on category pages. It's a simple thing, but I think it best I not make any edits to mainspace, even janitorial ones. WWB Too (Talk · COI) 15:13, 9 June 2018 (UTC)
