There are twelve entries in the "External links". Three seems to be an acceptable number and of course, everyone has their favorite to add for four. The problem is that none is needed for article promotion.
ELpoints #3) states: Links in the "External links" section should be kept to a minimum. A lack of external links or a small number of external links is not a reason to add external links.
LINKFARM states: There is nothing wrong with adding one or more useful content-relevant links to the external links section of an article; however, excessive lists can dwarf articles and detract from the purpose of Wikipedia. On articles about topics with many fansites, for example, including a link to one major fansite may be appropriate.
We don't need a compromise - the usual practice on this site is well established and clear, and there's no need for an exception here. It was in Lancashire when he was born, and the IP editor's contributions are becoming vexatious. Ghmyrtle (talk) 09:48, 16 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
Correct. Seaforth is in effect a suburb of Liverool. Seaforth is seamless with Liverpool. There are no fields between them. For example, Seaforth Dock is in the port of Liverpool and always has been. Stating it is in Lancashire may give the impression Seaforth is near Burnley, Lancaster, etc, which are quite a way from Liverpool. Stating where Seaforth is now and that it was once in Lancashire is more concise and the reader knows where Seaforth actually is. England was once called Albion, should be have Albion instead of England? No we do not as it is silly to do so, as it is silly to state just Lancashire when Seaforth ceased to be in Lancashire 50 years ago. Seaforth is officially in the Liverpool City Region, which is a legal entity. Even Encyclopedia Britannica states: "Kenny Everett (born December 25, 1944, Liverpool, England". 2A01:4B00:BB18:A600:E738:4C0D:38F4:6829 (talk) 12:21, 17 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
There is no "controversy" here. In 1944 Seaforth was in Lancashire. That's a fact. One might want to add "Liverpool", but it's really not necessary, Seaforth is one click away, if you want to see where it is. Using county at date of birth is policy at Wikipedia. You could challenge that policy, but here is not the appropriate venue. Thanks. Martinevans123 (talk) 12:41, 17 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
Yes there is no 'controversy' as Seaforth is factually inside the Liverpool City Region and had been for over half a century. It is necessary to mention 'Liverpool' being a major city, as that gives the reader the location immediately - not having to look at a map or click or whatever. The reader should not click on anything at all as it should be clear in the article. Few click anyhow.
"Seaforth is factually inside the Liverpool City Region and had been for over half a century" simply isn't true. Liverpool City Region was created in 2010, according to its own article, so it's not possible for anyone born before 2010 to have been born in Liverpool City Region. Liverpool, on the other hand, has been in existence since 1207. Dr Greg talk 15:51, 17 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
Seaforth has been out of Lancashire over over half a century. It is currently inside the Liverool City Region, with the City Region Mayor over Seaforth. 143.58.143.124 (talk) 16:02, 18 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
That's completely irrelevant. We use the county when the subject was born, which is this case was 1944. This is Wikipedia policy. I'm not sure how much more plainly this can be explained to you. Martinevans123 (talk) 18:35, 18 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
