editIn "WRITING" section says _Teach Us To Outgrow our Madness_ is a novel about his son. I'm holding a copy of that book--which is 4 short novellas, some loosely can be seen as about his son. No mention in the article is given about _A Personal Matter_, his most famous work about that circumstance! Done
Also, son was born in 1964, not 63, and born with brain damage. Done (63!)
Don't have time to edit this myself right now, but it is thoroughly incorrect. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.146.142.166 (talk) 20:33, 19 April 2010 (UTC)
Conventions
editNote - there is an ongoing discussion about the proper name order for Japanese names in western publications on Talk:List_of_Japanese_authors. This discussion uses Kenzaburo Oe as a reference. Please do not move this entry until the discussion reaches consensus. Additionally, Kenzaburo Oe is the standard form for this author's name in western publications (see Amazon.com, etc.) --Zippy 07:28, 6 Sep 2003 (UTC)
- There is also discussion at Wikipedia_talk:Naming_conventions_(Japanese)#Name Order - Hephaestos 07:34, 6 Sep 2003 (UTC)
...Neither of which has been resolved. Please explain this move. Exploding Boy 16:42, Nov 25, 2004 (UTC)
There was already a redirect page. What is the point of this move? And is it really necessary to have two ro-maji renderings of his name? It seems excessive. -Mp623

editI created a "not translated into English" section, as I'm not aware of any English translation of M/Tと森のフシギの物語. The information is based on the Swedish translation of the book. I wouldn't mind merging the lists into one complete list of Oe's novels/works (as with most other authors), but since someone obviously disagrees with me I'll leave the fighting to someone else. Joke?
editOe is very notorious as one of the pro-North Korea Korean intellectuals who praised North Korea as an "earthly paradise" in Japan now. See (all in Japanese),

editI'm translating the (starred) Russian Wikipedia page on Oe (which looks like it was someone's 卒論) into English. I don't know how to go about merging/editing it so it fits with the current page. What should I do? Should I just drop it in here and let people do with it what they want? Madler 22:43, 19 December 2006 (UTC)
- Be bold with your edits. I cannot read Russian, so I don't know about the content or quality of the Russian article, but it looks quite extensive. Feel free to edit the article itself directly, or translate it here and you or others can make changes to the article later. Thanks for translating! CES 15:35, 24 December 2006 (UTC)

Sometimes the Heart of the Turtle
editKenzaburō Ōe never wrote Sometimes the Heart of the Turtle ("Gendai gemu", 現代 ゲーム). that's an internet hoax. In fact, in Spanish Wikipedia this hoax has been eliminated [1]. Also here a reference [2] Librero2109 (talk) 21:26, 3 August 2021 (UTC)
