Health
editAdded two sentences relevant to a news item reported by the Topeka Capital-Journal's online edition that Kerry Livgren suffered a stroke on September 1, 2009. Included reference to the newspaper page[1]. Updates will be necessary as prognosis becomes available. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Leslauber (talk • contribs) 23:51, 1 September 2009 (UTC)
Inconsistencies
editA determination needs to be made what to call him throughout the article. He is called Kerry, Kerry Livgren, Livgren, and Mr. Livgren interchangeably and with no consistency. "Mr. Livgren" has a distancing effect and sounds like newspaperspeak. I favor Livgren or Kerry. Inside paragraphs, "he" is fine.
- I edited the article with the suggested changes. It now reads Kerry in place of just "Livgren" or "Mr. Livgren". I should have caught that when I was working on the article the first time. Apercu 17:19, 2 August 2007 (UTC)
- I've reworked this - "Kerry" is informal, whereas "Livgren" is more encyclopedic. --Ckatzchatspy 18:51, 29 November 2007 (UTC)
Black Sabbath and Ronnie James Dio perceived as "satanic", and citation needed
editDio and Sabbath have often erroneously been perceived as "satanic" by those who look no further than imagery (in fact, much of their lyrical content warns against becoming involved in such things). Also, I believe a citation is needed as to where the interview exists that says Dio did not consider the Seeds Of Change album to be "Christian". Dio is quite intelligent and usually researches his projects quite thoroughly; plus, with his being a friend of Kerry Livgren's, he would have to have known Kerry had become a Christian. I say this as a big fan of Kerry, RJD, Sabbath and Kansas, as well as being a Christian myself.--MarshallStack 05:02, 5 May 2006 (UTC) 70.169.143.85 (talk) 03:15, 13 August 2010 (UTC)
Picture?
editCome on! Surely we can find a picture of Kerry! I mean, how hard could it be? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.106.107.192 (talk) 01:34, 16 November 2007 (UTC)
Actually there is a press picture on his home website that can be legally used. I will embarassingly admit to never having uploaded a picture here so I have no clue how to do it but would be more than happy to. -Apercu 70.169.143.85 (talk) 03:13, 13 August 2010 (UTC)
Major Edit and Layout Change
editI've updated the page to include information from several sources including Mr. Livgren's autobiography and his website biography as well as several interviews. I attempted to keep the information pertinate and relevant. I left the change about Dio intact. --Apercu 19:16, 26 April 2007 (EDT)
NPOV tag
editI inquired of RF23 his reasoning for placing the NPOV tag. His reply was "there are parts in it that do not sound neuteral. parts of it read almost like an advertisement for Kansas. A little bit of copyediting can fix the article up. RF23 (talk) 23:12, 27 October 2009 (UTC)" I'd like to get the tag resolved and removed. I couldn't find much I found objectionable. I changed one short passage to be less dramatic. Other than that, I think the Recognition section is appropriate and I don't think Kansas makes up very much of the entry, especially given that's what virtually everyone knows him for.Senor Vergara (talk) 00:50, 28 October 2009 (UTC)
- It looks a little better.. Still has issues, but for now, i'll go ahead and remove the tag, because there are no more issues that stand out too much. RF23 (talk) 23:11, 28 October 2009 (UTC)
