Bias
editI have removed the following text: "This association with the Australian Labor Party has often renewed speculation of left-wing bias and his fiery interviews with Liberal Party Cabinet Ministers." Can anyone find a citation of this left-wing bias speculation? Also, O'Brien's fiery interviews have not just been with Liberals. Doesn't anyone else remember him famously accusing (then PM) Keating of having a "credibility problem"? To which Keating replied "I don't have a credibility problem, you have an information problem." Anyway, until someone can find a few good quality citations, I'm removing it because accusing a journalist of politicial bias is one of the most serious things you can do. - Not to mention the biffo with Latham. He went pretty damn hard on him. DarkSideOfTheSpoon 00:01, 29 October 2006 (UTC)
Why not look at http://www.abc.net.au/corp/pubs/media/s1485711.htm where the speculation re bias is spelled out pretty clearly as cabinet ministers have actually made complaints. Of course Mr. O'Brian was not found to have been been biased in his conduct here, but this is proof of there being a view that he is so. Anyone who saw his love in with Latham on the night prior to the election will understand the reasons for the complaints.
Kerry O'Brien is often accused of political bias, and these allegations along with the evidence should be admitted into the entry, much like how Fox News' alleged political bias is documented in its entry. Journalists and news outlets are often accused of bias and these accusations are consistently referenced in other related media wikipedia entries. Excluding the allegations is a form of censorship and not content improvement. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Thefunnelweb (talk • contribs) 14:38, 11 August 2009 (UTC)
= I have tried to marry the ideas expressed above, by citing some specific commentators who have accused O'Brien of bias, as well as some specifics about his appearances on The Chaser and have included O'Brien's response to his critics. I have also added details of the nature of the 7:30 Report Observoz (talk) 19:13, 1 September 2009 (UTC)

- Elliot, I draw your attention to the POV wording that we are required to represent fairly, and as far as possible without bias, all significant views that have been published by reliable sources. Accusations of bias have been made regularly by high profile opinion writers in the mainstream, wide-circulation Australian media, as well as by high profile Australian politicians. I invite you therefore to exam the citations provided (or conduct your own search on the issue) and draft your own proposal for addressing the issue of allegations of "bias"Observoz (talk) 04:10, 4 September 2009 (UTC)
Move?
editI think this page should be moved to Kerry O'Brien (journalist) or similar. Then have a disambig page pointing to the two Kerry's. ~AFA pony. 16:39, 10 May 2007 (UTC)
- Umm... Seems for some strange reason that Kerry O'Brien (journalist) actually goes to plain old Kerry O'Brien. That is fucked up...~AFA pony. 16:49, 10 May 2007 (UTC)

Standing for Senate
editI have found no evidence O'Brien is standing for senate. Also the ABC's editorial policy is that candidates can only appear as candidates and not for other reasons, (which is why Dr. Karl has temporarily stopped appearing on ABC radio). Kerry is still hosting the 7:30 report, so i don't think he's standing for senate. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 121.216.30.249 (talk) 11:34, 11 October 2007 (UTC)
Birth Date
editIf true, O'brien is in extraordinarily good shape for a 62 year old. I elliot 11:00, 13 October 2007 (UTC)
Irish-Australian
editSays he was born in Brisbane. Does he actually have Irish citizenship or just an O' in his name? I'm going to remove it until someone comes up with a reference. Nick 01:10, 29 November 2007 (UTC)
1993 election debates
editThe info about his moderation of the 1993 debates needs to be better presented. Having it announced via a quote from Howard feels completely jarring. 49.3.72.79 (talk) 16:22, 18 February 2023 (UTC)
