Hey Cookbball.

I mentioned in IRC that I'd do my best to have a look and put some suggestions on the talk page. I'm sorry I haven't managed to get around to it until now, but hopefully you'll find some (or all) of these helpful.

  1. I've got say the article reads as quite promotional, make sure this isn't a puff piece design to promote Kevin Cook, as that would be a deletion waiting to happen. You can read more at WP:ADVERT.
  2. I haven't seen much in the way of inline citations (WP:INCITE explains). This allows interested readers to confirm facts and read further around the comment by seeing the source in full. It also means that you can put a {{reflist}} at the end of the article, and it will generate the references automagically.
  3. There's a lot of external links there, I'm sure they could be cut down. Fair enough if you're actually using them as references, but if they're just there for reading material, they should really be cut down to 2-3. WP:EL gives some reasons as to why.
  4. You may want to put in an info box on the right hand side. {{Infobox sportsperson}} or {{Infobox person}} would be the most appropriate, but I'll let you judge.

Anyway, good luck with the article, feel free to wander over to my talk page if you've got any questions. WormTT · (talk) 13:24, 4 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

One quick thing to add here. The page as currently written, relies very heavily on video segments for sourcing. While it's entirely possible for a video news segment to be a reliable source, it can be detrimental for getting the page reviewed and approved as an article. A text version of a newspaper article - like the Washington Post item that you already have as one reference - is quicker to access, easy to establish what sort of piece it is and how reliable and independent it is, and easy to skim read to confirm whether it supports a particular fact in the Wikipedia article. By contrast, a video news item, although probably a preferred format for sports fans, is harder or at least slower to access, might be inaccessible to some reviewers if they are not in the country the item is intended for, and also limits the reviewer to having to watch and listen at the speed the item is presented. This can be discouraging for reviewers. --Demiurge1000 (talk) 17:52, 4 July 2011 (UTC)Reply
