khao tom is a soup and different from khao tom mat

edit

this is Khao tom   a Thai style rice soup, usually with pork, chicken, fish, or shrimp. and this is   khao tom mat

chok is not khao tom   idk why people think chok is the same as khao tom because is not, create in different way. Lalalulilalia (talk) 02:13, 10 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

There's no good reason to split the pages, so I've reverted the changes. As I've previously mentioned, splitting content along nationalistic lines would be an inappropriate WP:POVFORK. If you think the article should be renamed, please see the instructions at WP:Requested moves. However, I'd note that the Royal Society's Thai dictionary defines ข้าวต้ม both as "ข้าวที่ต้มให้สุก" and "ข้าวเหนียวที่ห่อด้วยใบไม้เช่นใบตองหรือใบมะพร้าวอ่อน แล้วต้มหรือนึ่งให้สุก อยู่ในจำพวกขนม มีชื่อต่าง ๆ เช่น ข้าวต้มมัด ข้าวต้มผัด". So while the use is not common, it is correct even in Thai. A new article can of course be created for khao tom in the rice porridge sense, but it will have to use a disambiguated title, e.g. Khao tom (porridge), at least until a requested move discussion is held. --Paul_012 (talk) 22:33, 10 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

@Paul 012: what about the philippines khao tom mat Suman_(food)?   this look the same as khao tom mat (It is made from glutinous rice cooked in coconut milk, often wrapped in banana leaves,) Lalalulilalia (talk) 10:02, 11 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
@Paul 012: when i google khao tom the image of Khao tom mat come first this need to be fix Lalalulilalia (talk) 10:04, 11 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

(I've removed some redundant messages that should best be responded to elsewhere.) Suman does seem to have several varieties that are quite different from khao tom mat, so separate pages are probably warranted. Regarding the confusion, the best course of action here would probably be to (1) create a separate article about khao tom (porridge), (2) open a requested move discussion to rename the articles. It wouldn't help if khao tom (porridge) didn't have its own article, as khao tom would still redirect here. If you're concerned that your English isn't good enough, you could first create a draft article, maybe at Draft:Khao tom (porridge), and ask for help polishing up the language. You could also try asking at the WP:Teahouse; the folks over there are quite helpful. --Paul_012 (talk) 20:19, 11 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
