Merge
editI don't think a merge makes sense - Khojavend and Martuni are not coterminous, so there's no reason they should share an article. --Golbez 07:47, 28 April 2006 (UTC)
I completely disagree since 1) Martuni was a district in Soviet times with it's own boundaries - deserving its own article even on that basis alone, and 2) on the ground, in reality, there is a district of Martuni which has the same boundaries as the old, and which has a government, population, etc, who all call it Martuni. The new district of Khojavend on the other hand has never existed in reality. --RaffiKojian 02:42, 12 May 2006 (UTC)

A different route to 66
edit"is an administrative district of Azerbaijan - one of the 66 such districts in the Republic." is best for the lead IMHO as it states what it is - a district. Laurel Lodged (talk) 15:16, 16 March 2021 (UTC)
- And how does the current lead not state that it's a district? "is one of the 66 districts". Your proposal makes this short phrase into a long sentence, which is unnecessary. — CuriousGolden (T·C) 15:21, 16 March 2021 (UTC)
- It's not about brevity; it's about putting the main, indeed the only pertinant, fact first, namely that it is administrative district. All other facts are secondary to this fact. Laurel Lodged (talk) 16:27, 16 March 2021 (UTC)
- That really doesn't matter. In fact, most province/district articles don't immediately start with "is a province". For example articles of provinces of Iran (example: West Azerbaijan Province) starts with "is one of the 31 provinces of Iran" or Syunik Province in Armenia which starts with "is the southernmost province", which by your definition should be something like "is a province in southernmost Armenia". These are small and really unnecessary changes that would be better untouched. — CuriousGolden (T·C) 17:15, 16 March 2021 (UTC)
