Most Inexpensive Car on U.S. Market
editI know that the Rio was the cheapest on the U.S. Market for several years, I just can't find a source for it. Can somebody help?

Maybe Somebody can edit and add in the Kia Rio "Tuner" offered in Canada from 2003-2005.
- The article stated that the Rio once sold for US$6995 in the US. This is completely false. When introduced for the 2001 model year, the MSRP was $8595. Now, it's possible that at some point they offered incentives such as cash back, but as far as official published prices go, it was never $6995. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Davez621 (talk • contribs) 02:54, 18 November 2009 (UTC)
- A Car and Driver review of the first-generation model said that it was, at the time, the most inexpensive car available in the country. Rodface (talk) 23:44, 21 November 2010 (UTC)
Hatchback
editHadn't realised this had been done previously. I've changed the station wagon term to hatchback. The Rio is not an estate car, it is simply an extended load hatchback. --Brideshead 20:47, 11 December 2006 (UTC)
Hatchback vs. estate terminology
editAccording to the manufacturer, the 2000 through 2005 model was a station wagon/estate car, while the 2006 model is a hatchback. Some may disagree with the definition of a subcompact car as a station wagon (I do not), but that's how it was marketed and that's how the article should describe it, unless someone can come up with a strong argument to the contrary. hajhouse 01:27, 22 December 2006 (UTC)
- Hi Hajhouse. As fas as I know, in the UK it has always been defined as a hathback. At the end of the day, it is only slightly longer than a Ford Focus. Regards, Asteriontalk 06:57, 22 December 2006 (UTC)

I drive an 02 Rio in the UK marketed as a hatchback. --Brideshead 15:21, 22 December 2006 (UTC)
Second generation arrived in 2005 in Europe?
editI've changed the text under Second generation to explicitly say that the new Rio was released for the 2005 model year in Europe, which is what I think the previous editor's text meant. I'm not located in Europe, please verify this if you can and change appropriately if the statement is wrong. Thanks. hajhouse 21:49, 30 October 2007 (UTC)
Formatting and Rumors
editI've cleaned up the layout some, stealing heavily from the VW Jetta page, and added more engine information and a references section. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Javance (talk • contribs) 23:41, 4 November 2007 (UTC)
kia rio engine type missing from this wiki
editThere is no mention of the A5D engine which was fitted/sold in Kia Rio's in Australia at least. I have seen a reference to a Kia Rio "A6D 1.6l" also!!?? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 49.183.172.185 (talk) 16:58, 10 October 2015 (UTC)
