Move to Kia Stevens
editI don't agree with moving this page from Amazing Kong to Kia Stevens. Per WP:NAME an article should be named with the label the subject is best known by to general readers (ie. not fans). This wrestler (like most wrestlers) is far better known by her stage name, Amazing Kong, than by her birth name. It is far more than a nickname. - Geoffg 04:56, 29 August 2007 (UTC)
- Well, the fact that she now has two notable ring names (and "Awesome" Kong is arguably more notable) negates that (see Brandon Silvestry for another example). Tromboneguy0186 08:20, 29 October 2007 (UTC)
If you type in Amazing Kong/Awesome Kong then it automatically redirects to the Kia Stevens page so it doesn't really matter. Plus the article notes her ring names - the picture also identifies her as the Kong we all know. However, this said, she does sign all her MySpace messages as KONG.
Last name
editI just read a bulletin from her MySpace saying that her parents' last name is Durant. Her mother passed away. I think her real name has got to be Kia Durant. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.190.69.14 (talk) 19:53, 8 February 2008 (UTC)
Proof of last name
edit"For all of the friends of my mother and me that do not know. My mother, Phyllis Ann Durant, passed away last Friday. She lived a very full life and raised three amazing children (Well actually, two amazing children and one 'awesome' child) along with my father Tony Durant. For those whom care to send acknowledgements or flowers, you may send them to Forest Lawn, Hollywood Hills Mortuary. - And did she say if she's single or has she ever been married? Nenog (talk) 22:25, 12 February 2008 (UTC)
- She got married to another wrestler after the pregnancy announcement (there were even pictures of the engagement ring that looked like a miniature wrestling ring). I don't know if it was reveled that he was the father or not, but now suddenly there's no mention of the guy. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 12.174.141.218 (talk) 15:21, 14 October 2013 (UTC)

Categorization
editI'm not a regular user of this site and therefore not entirely familiar with the etiquette of modifying pages, so I'm not going to make this change myself but will instead point it out here for a more regular user to handle. I've noticed that Ms. Stevens is categorized as a "Japanese person of American descent," which is incorrect unless I am misunderstanding the purpose of the category. The Amazing/Awesome Kong character is billed as residing in Japan, but Kia Stevens the person was born and raised in the United States before training and wrestling in Japan. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 12.226.46.27 (talk) 02:51, 4 May 2008 (UTC)
Billed Weight
editOn TNA Impact! and TNA pay-per-views, ring announcer Gary Capetta consistently gives Kong's weight as "two hundred seventy-one and three-eighths pounds." I've updated this in her statistics section.167.206.169.132 (talk) 16:37, 4 June 2008 (UTC)
WWE?
editSo about this rumored departure for WWE (a la Gail Kim), I do not believe it to be true. Kong turned down a WWE deal prior to signing with TNA. I'm not trying to be shallow, but Kong does not fit in with the WWE. Her contract is set to expire very soon, so only time will tell. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 146.201.174.71 (talk) 16:53, 29 August 2008 (UTC) me i thank she will be the best diva for the wwe she will show the divas a real fighting champion yes she belongs in the wwe im a very big fan of hers and will love to see her teach the wwe diva what a real fighting champion is — Preceding unsigned comment added by Cain1974 (talk • contribs) 17:53, 3 August 2012 (UTC)
Confusing Line
edit"On October 13, 2007, Kong got her first SHIMMER Championship title shot against Sara Del Rey, losing when she did not answer the referee's ten-count against MsChif. Not long after appearing in Ring of Honor."
Anyone know what this quote is going for? Philname1 (talk) 03:42, 9 January 2009 (UTC)
Still with TNA
editTNA hasn't released and she is officially listed as part of their roster. So I have no clue why someone took her off the TNA employee roster page and why she isn't listed as a TNA wrestler here. Isnt anyone policing these pages? If she gets released by TNA, then fine. But right now she is part of TNA. It should be changed back. 68.192.21.209 (talk) 19:03, 4 March 2010 (UTC)
- It has been published on several websites she has been released and she herself confirmed this through her tweeter account.--WillC 06:18, 5 March 2010 (UTC)

GA Review

Reviewer: Wizardman Operation Big Bear 03:16, 11 June 2010 (UTC) Overall this is a good article, though I have a couple issues:
- "On May 8 on Impact!," I'd reword to 'on the may 8 episode' or the like.
- "They accomplished the task on the April 16 episode of Impact! Kong would turn face by attempting to retaliate." With the way it's written, it seems like a run-on, since i'm not sure if the exclamation point is meant to be the end of the sentence.
- In the personal life section, all the sentences seem to start with she or her. Add in a couple Stevens or tweak how they start to break the repetition.
Just a couple small things; I'll put the article on hold and pass when the issues are fixed. Wizardman Operation Big Bear 03:16, 11 June 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks for the review. I've addressed all of your concerns. Nikki♥311 02:39, 12 June 2010 (UTC)

WWE career as Kharma
editSince there isn't a section already, I'm going to make one to discuss this. It seems there are a lot of modifications and reversions being made as a result of disputes regarding the notability of recent events. I think it would be good to discuss these things here. I personally think that mentioning specifically who she has been attacking is crucial at the moment. Later on if she does a lot we can skim over it, yes, but at the moment it is key to understanding the character. In particular, her only unprovoked attacks have been on McCool and Maryse, probably the biggest heels out there. Layla twice ran off after having defeated the opponent. Both Alicia and Eve (ex Diva champs) have attacked her from behind. Alicia in particular has suffered a potentially serious shoulder injury (a legit one) so that's not something to be skimmed over by saying "she's arrived after diva matches". That previous statement is also wrong, because she interrupted Maryse's match, she didn't wait until after as she did at Extreme Rules or on Smackdown or the 2nd raw match with bellas/eve. DB (talk) 05:41, 13 May 2011 (UTC)
- Wikipedia isn't a news service, nor should events be written week-by-week, as the size of articles would become enourmous and unreadable. While I'm having a great deal of fun watching her attack different Divas every show, there really is nothing of note until we know something further. To put whether she's a babyface, heel or tweener would be presumptuous as she's currently a lone wolf and has no allegiance. Just like people who edited CM Punk's article calling him a babyface when he was on commentary, we should just wait until something develops. Listing every Diva she attacks adds nothing, until she begins to feud with one of the Divas she's attacked, or perhaps one of them is saved and whoever does the saving will be of note. Tony2Times (talk) 14:36, 13 May 2011 (UTC)
- I understand eventually that many of these events could have no follow-up, but if you're going to revert the additions then I at least want to make note of them for records on this talk page so that we can shape storylines in conjunction with future events in case our memory wanes of them. Layla and Kelly Kelly have fled twice, Michelle is kayfabe injured, Alicia Fox is legitimately injured, the current champ and her sister (I forget which Bella) have fled, Maryse tried to flee, Fox and Eve attacked her and got destroyed. In a way though, the way some divas have attacked her seems significant to me. We shouldn't merely mention that Kharma is attacking them (and the statement about it being after matches is wrong,
I will fix that,oh wait you already did because she interrupted the Maryse match, she did not wait) but also that they are fleeing and pre-emptively attacking her from behind. While I guess it's not a huge observation since it seems the majority of the diva roster is an ex champ, Eve and Alicia are ex-champs (Eve more recently) doing surprise attacks from behind and not making a dent. No diva has made an impact this big, so listing the names of significant Divas she's trounced seems critical to establishing who she is. Simply saying divas might make people think of Rosa Mendes or um... yeah she's the only low-tier that comes to mind. I'm not jumping the gun to call her face/tweener/heel, people can make up their mind about that without our declarations. Simply stating who she has attacked and under what circumstances seems important though. Honestly, I'm going to remove your plural about attacking Divas, the only Diva she's actually attacked is Maryse. The others attacked her first. DB (talk) 18:57, 13 May 2011 (UTC)

- Also in your recap, Michelle isn't kayfabe injured, she left the company/was fired in storyline. The only reason Michelle is mentioned as it is the first one, it would be a clunky sentence without one name to lynch "and other female wrestlers" onto afterwards. I'd argue at this point whether she attacks other wrestlers before they've attacked her first is irrelevent as she is coming down after or during their matches when she's unscheduled to be there, so she's still making the first belligerent move. What we surely can agree on that she is attacking, not defeating, the other wrestlers as she isn't in a competitive match with them. Also, while you're right that sometimes when a wrestler is injured they come back to feud with the person who did it to them (Sheamus feuded with Triple H again? Really, when?) there's other times when they don't: Jericho didn't injure Edge, they were teaming at the time, Cena didn't go after Batista following his 2008 injury, CM Punk returned from injury earlier this year and it was neither John Cena or Orton who injured him &c I have no problem with you keeping a mental note of which ones she attacks and if one of them builds somewhere I can put it down, but from week to week it isn't that noteable. Not that your other contributions aren't welcome (like finding that arrant apostrophe S and other edits I'm sure), but when people start adding stuff every week you get a page rife with trivial detail and I'd rather that didn't happen here. Orphaned references in Kia Stevens
editI check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Kia Stevens's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

2012 Rumble statement
edit@Crash Underride: in response to the sentence removal (you called "slanderous") and subsequent notification (you called "unnecessary" and "insulting"), dug and found when I added this in August. When you said "NPOV" I figure you meant "not NPOV". This pertains to text we have based on 2 articles by James Caldwell on PWTorch.
The term "falsehood" was used because the 31 January 2012 source saying she said she gave birth 31 December 2011:
- Caldwell, James (31 January 2012). "Why Kharma was able to return in the Rumble". Pro Wrestling Torch. Retrieved 24 February 2012.
was later contradicted by the 7 March 2012 source which said she did not:
- Caldwell, James (7 March 2012). "Kharma says she did not birth child". Pro Wrestling Torch. Retrieved 7 March 2012.
A falsehood was maintained, however in reviewing the sources, I am beginning to wonder if "Stevens announced that she had given birth to a baby boy" is actually supported. I did not add that part and I don't think the sources support it, so I'm going to rephrase it.
Edit: made some changes, I hope this is more neutral than before. I was not wrong to call it a falsehood however there is not clear enough evidence that Kia was actually propogating a falsehood. It is entirely possible that TMZ/PWtorch presentation of rumor was actually the falsehood. We do not know what (if anything) Kia told her friends (or "close sources") or if so, when they were told such things. We don't even know when the miscarriage happened. The title of the first TMZ article "I Dropped a Few Pounds ... Out of My Uterus" actually doesn't specify a live birth at all, so it's possible she made an ambiguous statement like that and people jumped to the conclusion she meant a successful pregnancy, in which case she was not guilty of any falsehood. It would be the "close sources" unintentionally spreading a falsehood and TMZ spreading a falsehood in the 2nd by stating she told her friends she had a successful pregnancy by misrembering their January article when they wrote their March one. Ranze (talk) 04:50, 28 January 2016 (UTC)
- My biggest problem was that it wasn't a needed statement. It a) HAD no source and b) was unnecessary as it was stated in the sentence before that she said she had the baby and why. CrashUnderride 14:17, 28 January 2016 (UTC)
- Edit I went what looked at the changes you made, I'm fine with them. They are sourced and better written. Thank you. The way it was when I removed it could've been construed as insulting. CrashUnderride 14:19, 28 January 2016 (UTC)

This 2010 promotion has 13 citation needed tags, as well as other untagged statements lacking citations. Spinixster (trout me!) 07:44, 6 June 2024 (UTC)
- As reviewer would agree with a delisting as is, needs a lot of work especially on the post-2011 material. Wizardman 21:29, 6 June 2024 (UTC)
- I think there is just too much uncited here to retain as a GA. Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 10:44, 9 June 2024 (UTC)
