Inappropriate Tone
editI have deleted this passage
"Kid Creole and the Coconuts were a spectacular live act, complete with lavish set designs with a tropical motif, wild costumes and intricate choreography by the Coconuts (provided by Kaegi). On stage they infused an energy, rhythm and playfulness in their music that drove audiences wild. Though Kid Creole never achieved mainstream success in the US, the band was hugely popular in major cities (especially its hometown NYC) and hit pop superstar status in England and Europe, where its eclecticism and sophistication were much more appreciated."
on the ground that it is clearly not encyclopediac in tone or substance
Is Kid Creole dead?
editI tried to tell everyone this by adding the following template to the beginning of the article:
{{recent death|Darnell, August|date=January 2009}}
I'd really like to restore this template, so can anyone tell me if Kid Creole's REALLY dead or not? OrnFreeTaa (talk) 23:34, 1 February 2009 (UTC)

Calloway?
editThe article states that Kid Creole's music encompasses a variety of music styles, including one referred to as "Calloway" and then links to Cab Calloway's page. "Calloway" is not a style of music. Deepcloud (talk) 09:45, 29 August 2009 (UTC)
- It's a verbatim quote, but I've tried to clarify it by adding the words "..and influences.." Ghmyrtle (talk) 09:49, 29 August 2009 (UTC)
If looking for a more authoritative source on what is a very subjective (although, in my opinion, correct) opinion, how about The AllMusic Guide? See http://www.allmusic.com/artist/kid-creole-the-coconuts-mn0000071231Snapdragon630 (talk) 03:49, 24 September 2012 (UTC)
Bio Reference
editI have added a reference to the AllMusic Guide/Rovi bio page; the MTV reference simply contains content taken directly from the AMG page. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Snapdragon630 (talk • contribs) 04:00, 24 September 2012 (UTC)
Boy band? Is this correct?
editThis article is in categories "Boy bands" and "American boy bands". Is this correct? The fellow who started the band was thirty at the time, and the band includes several women.—Anne Delong (talk) 06:53, 11 February 2017 (UTC)
- No - I'll remove those cats. Ghmyrtle (talk) 08:51, 11 February 2017 (UTC)

Wording change to deal with Request for Citation
editI changed line in the Career section to read: "...it received positive reviews, with Darnell recognized as a clever lyricist and astute composer, arranger and producer." I submit that, with this wording change, the Request for Citation can be removed. Thoughts? rowley (talk) 21:25, 21 September 2019 (UTC)
Recent edits
editEdits today by User:Darmanlhl and User:Palmtree90 appear to be by users with a close knowledge of the article's subjects, and may therefore fall foul of WP:COI. All seem to be unsourced; some are neutral in tone, but many are not. I have not removed all of them - there were many unsourced statements in the article previously. The article will need to be kept under close watch, however. Ghmyrtle (talk) 17:12, 30 August 2020 (UTC)
- I m a Adriana Kaegi co founder of the band Kid Creole and the Coconuts and I m not sure what you need me to do to back up my additions needed for them to be added as our Wikipedia is full of errors Darmanlhl (talk) 19:05, 30 August 2020 (UTC)
- Hi, and thanks for responding. You should NOT attempt to edit this article (or your own article) yourself - it is a violation of Wikipedia's conflict of interest policy. Wikipedia is based on what has previously been written in reliable sources, not on what anyone would like to see written about themselves, their relatives, friends, or clients. But clearly, if there is information in this or other articles that is factually incorrect, especially if it concerns living people, we will ensure that it is corrected. In that case, you would need to explain any inaccuracies on this talk page, so that an independent editor or editors can make the changes necessary. I hope this helps, but there is further information at Wikipedia:Autobiography. Ghmyrtle (talk) 19:21, 30 August 2020 (UTC)
