One of the primary references to this article contains a reference to a blog post appearing in the Sulekha portal and lacks any references. So, the spurious claims being made by that blog post about the etymology of this surname deserves to be deleted.

An earlier version of this article claimed that the Kidambis are largely members of the Thenkalai subsect. The claim was further made that the Vadakalai members are from the Ahobila Matham. This lacks data and should not be reintroduced into this article without sufficient proof. There are well known Kidambis who are members of Andavan Ashramam (a Vadakalai institution) and there are many svayamacharya purusha Kidambis in the Vadakalai tradition as well. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.11.65.122 (talk) 04:22, 17 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

The previous version of the article has clearly indicated that the Kidambis among Vadakalais belong to Ahobila Mutt among other institutions. This does not preclude their association with Andavan Ashram or other similar Vadakalai institutions. The subsequent edit fails to produce the very evidence it claims the first edit to be lacking, and hence is not worthy to supercede the earlier content. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mukukv (talkcontribs) 20:34, 11 September 2014 (UTC)Reply
