An editorial writing on kidnapping in Nigeria
editKidnapping in Nigeria is the Way by which someone is taken by force and hold them captive against their will to extort money from them or force them into doing illegal things. Kidnapping in Nigeria is now becoming rampant day by day , we are no longer safe in our fathers land because the rate at which people are kidnapping is becoming alarming . People are being kidnapped by bandits, Boko haram by using them to bargain for money from their family or force them into doing illegal things such as suicide bombing , enslaving them to instill fear in them and later use them to negotiate funds from government which they will later use for their terrorist operations , and release their people in the Jail.Boko haram have brainwashed many people they kidnap into joining their group and force young female victims into marrying them.
Kidnapping has become endemic in Nigeria, using people for money rituals by cutting their part into pieces after using the part they wanted they will throw the remaining part away or sell them to the people eating human flesh. The effect of terrorist activities such as suicide bombings, kidnappings, destruction of lives, public infrastructure, private and entrepreneurial investments, the climate of fear, panic and confusion and a heated and ungovernable policy has continued to make Nigeria an unsuitable bride for foreign investments.
The major causes of kidnapping in Nigeria are abject poverty, corruption and fraud, political influence, joblessness, terrorism, lack of capital punishment by the government, the changing value system and quick-money syndrome.
Ways that government can use to stop kidnapping in Nigeria, establishing effective border control for all of Nigeria, especially in the North. provisions of a reliable and unique identification number for each individual, for tracking social benefits other identification purposes. curbing corruption within and among Nigerian law enforcement agencie and providing job opportunities for people that are jobless 102.89.32.148 (talk) 06:48, 22 May 2022 (UTC)
