Contested deletion

edit

This article should not be speedy deleted as being recently created, having no relevant page history and duplicating an existing English Wikipedia topic, because... (It was okay, even that cussword but they had a clean version and I literally saw it.) --JordanKyser22 (talk) 21:26, 13 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

Why would you add a speedy delete tag to the article then say it shouldn't be deleted? --StarcheerspeaksnewslostwarsTalk to me 22:42, 13 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Kidz Bop

edit

A tag has been placed on Kidz Bop, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a redirect to an article talk page, file description page, file talk page, MediaWiki page, MediaWiki talk page, category talk page, portal talk page, template talk page, help talk, user page, user talk or special page from the main/article space.

If you can fix the redirect to point to a mainspace page, please do so and remove the speedy deletion tag. However, please do not remove the speedy deletion tag unless you are fixing the redirect. If you think the redirect should be retained as is for some reason, contest the deletion by clicking on the button that looks like this:   which appears inside of the speedy deletion ({{db-...}}) tag (if no such tag exists, the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate). Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the article's talk page directly to give your reasons. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Criticism?

edit

I've seen a lot of criticism and backlash towards this series, mainly from original fans of the songs, saying that they "FCUKD UPP DA ZONGZ!!!1!!!" Please add a criticism page. It gets just as much hate as nu metal and deathcore, and they have criticism pages.PoisonBFMV80816 (talk) 02:31, 19 July 2014 (UTC)Reply

what gives u the right — Preceding unsigned comment added by Commons22 (talkcontribs)
This article should tell the reader about notable alumni only, that is, current and former alumni that became famous. It should not be an exhaustive list of every person. One really good measure of notability is whether multiple third party publications have written about the person in significant detail. The Kidz Bop website is a primary source, not suitable for establishing notability. Binksternet (talk) 12:53, 5 February 2016 (UTC)Reply
Hi there, the current KIDZ BOP Kids should absolutely be listed. Per your comment, they have all been listed on MULTIPLE news sources. Here are SEVERAL links from reputable news sources that interviews The KIDZ BOP Kids, or describes them in detail alongside a photograph. There are a plethora more about the entire group AND that includes individual one-on-one interviews with individual kids. Examples include Bloomberg Businessweek[1], Forbes Magazine[2], Jezebel[3] Star Ledger: [4] Broadway World[5], Billboard Magazine[6] The KIDZ BOP Kids are the face and voice of the brand: they sing on all of the albums, star in the music videos and perform live on a national, 50-city tour. A large portion of the brands success is due to The KIDZ BOP Kids. They most certainly are notable, especially within their demographic (which I assume you are not in). — Preceding unsigned comment added by Commons22 (talkcontribs) 13:17, 5 February 2016 (UTC)Reply

Interviews are still WP:PRIMARY sources, not sufficient to establish notability. Regarding the Bloomberg article, the kids are listed and discussed in the context of Kidz Bop only, not in their own individual context. Same with the Forbes source and the Jezebel source. The North Jersey source is a local one for Matt Martinez, who would need multiple larger publications to establish notability. The Broadway World source only lists the people, giving no biographical detail. Same with the Billboard source. So none of these work for what you want them to do. These sources are great for the article but not for establishing the notability of the individuals in the current lineup. Binksternet (talk) 13:38, 5 February 2016 (UTC)Reply
FWIW, the Kidz Bop website is an acceptable primary source for establishing the current members of Kidz Bop (some of these other refs can be added as secondary source confirmation...), and I find nothing objectionable about listing the current members – that doesn't seem WP:UNDUE to me. But I fully agree with you that a laundry list of all former members of the group is completely inappropriate for inclusion here, and even a separate List of Kidz Bop members would likely be deleted at WP:AfD were it ever created. --IJBall (contribstalk) 15:16, 5 February 2016 (UTC)Reply
100% agree. The current KIDZ BOP Kids are the face of brand, have headlined two national tours, have recorded KIDZ BOP 25-31, star in over 100 music videos on the YouTube channel, host the brand's SiriusXM channel, are listed on the website. They absolutely should be listed on the wikipedia page, as they are the identity of the brand. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.223.213.107 (talk) 15:33, February 5, 2016‎ (UTC)
Well, they're the current "face of the brand", which is why they are significant enough to include here. But once they're replaced, they would only be worthy for inclusion here if they go on and do other significant things, like Ross Lynch and Zendaya. --IJBall (contribstalk) 16:20, 5 February 2016 (UTC)Reply
Please review WP:ONUS: While information must be verifiable in order to be included in an article, this does not mean that all verifiable information must be included in an article. The full list of alumni should simply not be included here. At best, a separate List of Kidz Bop members could be created. But including all the alumni, notable and not, at this article unbalances it in a way that is WP:UNDUE. So I will once again remove the full alumni list. --IJBall (contribstalk) 15:04, 5 February 2016 (UTC)Reply

Tour section

edit

I updated "Life Of The Party Tour" to add: - A line about the Friendly's sponsorship - The updated Live Nation dates The other promotional stuff (that included stats, etc.) was removed. Everything is sourced. This is pretty basic, OK to leave as is. Thx. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Commons22 (talkcontribs) 04:47, 29 March 2016 (UTC)Reply

My recollection is that the info about the Friendly's sponsorship had been previously added, and then subsequently removed for being overly promotional. (I can't find the specific edit, unfortunately.) In any case, I think that part is overly promotional – this is an encyclopedia, and this kind of information isn't relevant. I don't see anything wrong in the other addition about the tour dates, as those are sourced. --IJBall (contribstalk) 04:53, 29 March 2016 (UTC)Reply
And now pinging Binksternet and Yamaguchi先生 as two recent editors to this page that I'd like to take a look at this edit, as Commons22 is ignoring WP:BRD on this and is edit warring to keep this promotional language in. --IJBall (contribstalk) 04:56, 29 March 2016 (UTC)Reply
Got it – the Friendly's sponsorship was previously added by an IP on Feb. 29 with these edits, and was removed by Binksternet on March 11 with this edit. --IJBall (contribstalk) 05:06, 29 March 2016 (UTC)Reply
I've updated the promotional language significantly to just include information about Friendly's being a title sponsor. That's relevant information as their name is associated with the tour, on all tour materials, etc. Many tours on wikipedia include sponsor information. See: The 1989 World Tour: The original post said the following. As you can see - it's been simplified.
"Friendly's Ice Cream is joining KIDZ BOP's birthday celebration as an official partner of the Life Of The Party tour, and will sponsor all dates in the Northeast. The partnership will also feature a retail promotion with a special on-pack offer and national sweepstakes. Consumers who purchase specially marked packages of Friendly's ice cream cakes can receive a free KIDZ BOP song download and enter to win prizes from KIDZ BOP & Friendly's. One lucky grand prize winner will receive a trip for a family of four to Los Angeles for a VIP KIDZ BOP experience."[1] User:commons22 —Preceding undated comment added 05:04, March 29, 2016‎ (UTC)

Again, this info is purely promotional, and is inappropriate for inclusion in an encyclopedia such as this one. But I'd like to see what Binksternet and Yamaguchi先生 might have to say before proceeding... --IJBall (contribstalk) 05:09, 29 March 2016 (UTC)Reply
The cite source says that the information it presents is not its own; rather, the information is a public relations release. I cannot consider this a reliable source. It looks purely promotional. Binksternet (talk) 05:14, 29 March 2016 (UTC)Reply

Being able to source something doesn't mean it should be included. From WP:ONUS: "While information must be verifiable in order to be included in an article, this does not mean that all verifiable information must be included in an article. Consensus may determine that certain information does not improve an article, and that it should be omitted or presented instead in a different article. The onus to achieve consensus for inclusion is on those seeking to include disputed content." --IJBall (contribstalk) 05:26, 29 March 2016 (UTC)Reply
As you said yourself, you added promotional content to the article. Wikipedia is not a site for advertising or announcements. Updates about contests, tour dates or sponsorship are purely for promotional purposes and do not serve an encyclopedic value. I suggest you familiarize yourself with WP:NOT. -- ChamithN (talk) 06:12, 29 March 2016 (UTC)Reply

Why the Redirects?

edit

It seems pointless to me for a sizable portion of the albums listed with links to only redirect back to this page itself. It feels somewhat redundant to me, is there a point? I just felt like asking before doing any actual editing to the page itself, because I am very new to editing wikipedia and the quality standards required for each page. I understand that it isn't easy to make pages for each and every album, it just seems pointless to make it a linked article if it just redirects to the article the link is on. Kidz Bop 39

edit

There is no information for Kidz Bop 39 and October 12, 2018 is in −2,238 days, so I changed the release date to January 18, 2019

What is the release date now, since October 12, 2018 has been passed?, I know they delayed the album and will be released closer to winter time, but the release date is unknown.

Pruning ✂️

edit

I'm changing all the remaining articles about individual Kidz Bop albums into redirects.

As it is, most of the albums don't have their own articles, and for good reason: there's just not much to say about each one. The few individual album articles that do exist seem to be random: there isn't anything particularly noteworthy about them (see Kidz Bop 3, Kidz Bop 4, Kidz Bop 15, etc.)

For readers looking for track lists or a review, I will add a new AllMusic column to the album table on this page, with a link for each album to its corresponding AllMusic page. WanderingWanda (talk) 23:48, 21 September 2019 (UTC)Reply

Sourceless Info RE: 2007 Tour

Just wondering about this sentence under the "Tour" section:

"It was funded, at least in part, by Karen Zerby."

Censorships

edit

Censorships are important in Kidz Bop, as it helps keep song more child-friendly by removing inappropriate words, but this could be pretty controversial as they even censor less inappropriate words. Can there be more info about Kidz Bop songs being censored to be included in this article? Sparkbean (talk) 14:04, 4 November 2024 (UTC)Reply

We already have a paragraph about censorship and how it doesn't really work in these songs because the adult themes are still present. Binksternet (talk) 18:40, 4 November 2024 (UTC)Reply
But there is only a few info in that paragraph that connects the evidence to my claim. Sparkbean (talk) 18:43, 4 November 2024 (UTC)Reply
If you want to add something more about censorship you would need to find a published source discussing the issue. You would then summarize the source and cite it. Binksternet (talk) 19:48, 4 November 2024 (UTC)Reply
I'll do that eventually, but I see this a lot on Fandom wikis, and I know Fandom isn't reliable, it's just that Kidz Bop can be controversial sometimes. Sparkbean (talk) 21:08, 4 November 2024 (UTC)Reply
