Membership Fee - Likely Error in Original Source
editThe article states that the joining fee for the club was set at £26.10.00, and refers to Samuel Lewis' "A topographical dictionary of Ireland" of 1840 for confirmation of this. However, note that entrance (joining) fees for clubs tended to be set in guineas, not pounds sterling. £26.10.00 is not a round number of guineas. The most likely explanation is that the entrance fee for the club was gn.25, which would be £26.05.00. Whilst I do not wish to change the article's text without appropriate documentary evidence, I would encourage interested editors with access to the original club records to verify the 1840 entrance fee from a primary source, rather than relying on Lewis.
