Incorrect quote?

edit

Homer: Florida?! But that's America's wang! Plant Psychiatrist: They prefer "The Sunshine State."

Didn't he actually say "But that's America's wing"?--SeizureDog 22:19, 4 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

No, I quite clearly remember it as "Wang". Otherwise the joke makes no sense. --88.104.251.80 15:12, 13 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Removed the alleged reference of the episode title to a film called "Take the Money and Run." Why does it reference that film? Simply because there's some action, then, "run?" Doesn't make it a reference. Same goes for the Steve Miller Band song title. Totally unrelated. Globe199 04:48, 30 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Arizona smells funny

edit

I think this is a nod to the episode "Barts friend falls in love" where Samantha Stanky is from Phoenix and says that this town smells weird. You know how you smell the same smell for so long, and after a while clean smells bad? Yeah..

Captain Jack

edit

It makes no sense that the alligator being named Captain Jack is a reference to the Billy Joel song. However, the episode of Leave It to Beaver, where they buy and keep an alligator named Captain Jack does. If this is commonly agreed to (or even better cited in some sort of Simpsons literature) I propose that it be changed. WesUGAdawg (talk) 00:35, 22 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Courthouse Conundrum

edit

You'll probably need to see the episode again to know exactly what I'm talking about, but what I'd really like to know is: Is the Courthouse Statue a reference to anything? Ok, she's holding the scales in one hand, she's blindfolded, and otherwise looks like a normal courthouse statue, except that in her left hand (the forward most hand) she is holding a cute lil' puppy by the ears. Other things that might help are that it's called the "Six Toe County Courthouse" and the time is 09:05. Though I doubt that actually will help. Razzzar (talk) 16:29, 4 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

Overall; a great article. In good shape, I will be happy to pass as soon as the above concerns are fixed. Thanks, TBrandley 15:51, 19 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

Cool Hand Luke

edit

The chain gang scenes, especially the gang boss with the whip, are a reference to the film Cool Hand Luke in which the titular character works in a chain gang in Florida. The plot summary does not mention this. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.255.64.245 (talk) 23:09, 22 August 2012 (UTC)Reply
