Hi!

Kinah is also the in-game currency for the game Aion. Would someone please disambiguate? I would, but don't know how to do it properly. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 2fargon (talkcontribs) 02:07, 4 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

Shouldn't this page be deleted or merged with the page on kinnot? (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kinnot) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 178.48.49.177 (talk) 13:04, 31 May 2015 (UTC)Reply

Agree. I put a 'merge' suggestion on both pages last month. Feline Hymnic (talk) 12:25, 9 May 2020 (UTC)Reply
I support, but the merged article has to be called Kinah not Kinnot. This is because it would cover three separate subjects: Biblical lamentations (referred to by the singular Kinah); the Biblical city named Kinah; and medieval liturgical lamentations (referred to by singular Kinah or plural Kinnot). In order to cover all these subjects, only "Kinah" is appropriate. Ar2332 (talk) 19:15, 9 May 2020 (UTC)Reply
This is already being discussed on WP:JUDAISM, where I explained the difference between the two terms. Debresser (talk) 23:49, 10 May 2020 (UTC)Reply
For the record, that discussion has become stale, and hence archived at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Judaism/Archive 37#Qinah, kinah and kinnot. We have one merge template still up; any interest in continuing, or close with no consensus to merge? Klbrain (talk) 21:21, 8 November 2020 (UTC)Reply
I for one opposed the merge, so I am fine with closing this as no consensus to merge. Debresser (talk) 13:18, 9 November 2020 (UTC)Reply

Commentaries I have seen on the Book of Lamentations seem to use the spelling 'qinah' rather than 'kinah'. And the term seems to be used with two apparently different meanings: the idea of a dirge or lament; a linguistic three-two pattern of stresses. There seems to be a variety of topics under this banner. Feline Hymnic (talk) 21:43, 9 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

The two spellings mean the same thing, and are just that: different spellings, nothing else. Perhaps two authors used different spellings when writing about different aspects of the kinah, and that might explain why you got the incorrect impressing they are referring to different things, but they are the same.
