I have merged the Kincardine, Ontario and Kincardine, Ontario (town) articles because they were both stubs and covered basically the same material. I realise that the intention was to distinguish between the current Municipality of Kincardine and the former Town of Kincardine, but as a native of the community I do not feel this distinction is useful. Perhaps if the history section gets large enough there will be a reason to split out the various constituent parts of the municipality. I am even thinking of merging in Tiverton, Ontario, but that community has a distinct history of its own, so I'm not sure.

I have entered a lot of historical detail from the early days, but not much after that. I will probably come back and flesh it out more when I have more time, unless someone else has already done so.

Also, there is very little in the way of non-historical information presented. But, there's more there now than there was before. I plan to add more there as well, when I get the chance. Dglynch 15:54, Jan 29, 2005 (UTC)

Bervie/Underwood

edit

Please note that the rule for populated places in Ontario is that anything smaller than the level of a municipality (city, town, village, township, etc.) may only have its own separate article if proper reliable sources can be provided to demonstrate that the community is properly notable in its own right. Without such sources, a community is entitled only to a redirect to its parent municipality. Bearcat (talk) 05:21, 19 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

Merging Kincardine/Bervie/Tiverton/Underwood

edit

I am trying to think of how to merge these. If someone can change the title of the article to "Municipality of Kincardine" then I can have a "Town of Kincardine" main section, "Bervie" main section, "Tiverton" main section etc. then have sections on the the general stuff about the municpality (ie: Education, goverment, etc)

Nope. The municipality gets the title "Kincardine, Ontario", and that is not up for debate. If you can write and properly source a separate article about the community (which is not a "Town", either, as it has no municipal government of its own as a separate entity from the municipality as a whole), then it gets a disambiguated subtitle such as "Kincardine, Ontario (community)" and the municipality still keeps the plain "Kincardine, Ontario". But if you cannot add proper sourcing which is specifically about the community itself (your last attempt merely hung onto references which were about the municipality, and didn't even properly support even one single solitary word of your content), then the community is not automatically allowed to keep a separate article just because it exists. As I already noted above, reliable source referencing is mandatory on Wikipedia; a topic is not entitled to an article if that sourcing is not present.
Again: you are allowed to write separate articles about any community within the boundaries of Kincardine-the-municipality, if proper sourcing which is specifically about that community can be provided. But the municipality keeps the "Kincardine, Ontario" title. If you can write and properly source a separate article about Kincardine-the-community, then that one gets disambiguated as a subtitle of this one — it Kincardine" title instead. Airport Ambiguity

edit

See following line

Airplanes can land at the Municipal Airport, Kincardine/Shepherd's Landing or the Ellis Field located in Kincardine Township.

Please revise to following

"Kincardine Municipal Airport can accommodate a variety of aircraft including light jet, turboprop and rotary wing aircraft."

The inclusion of Ellis Field and Shepherds Landing are of no use to the municipality as they are private aerodromes and therefore have little relevance to this listing.

Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mbsevans (talkcontribs) 16:42, 1 November 2014 (UTC)Reply
