All I know about this event comes from other sites on the internet, which are not very detailed. The list of winners is particularly welcome. Drutt 00:32, 14 September 2007 (UTC)

Past 1970 winners

Just curious why the list of winners ends where it does. The Kings Cup is still contested every year, so where is the list of winners up to and including 2009? 21st CENTURY GREENSTUFF 00:50, 26 September 2009 (UTC)

Damn, I just had a fruitless search on t'internet. You would think the Royal Aero Club would have a results page somewhere. Similar nil result for the Schneider Trophy which was revived in recent years and competed for annually as a pylon turning race run by the RAeroC. 21st CENTURY GREENSTUFF 12:51, 27 September 2009 (UTC)

Review data columns

Just added G-AYWM, based on photos of it at race events 1971-1972 with race number '60', being a 150 hp Airtourer T4. There were two in the Kings Cup 1971, pilots Stan Warwick and Bert Miles, no direct links yet to registrations.

I propose deleting the space-hogging engine data, as typical engine and power can be seen in a single link jump to aircraft type. I propose we add exact date, location of finish line and perhaps racing number, to better qualify for notability under WP guidance. If space still short, perhaps average speed is not very notable in a handicap race, and like distance, it's not always quoted in published reports. I can provide most of the data from Peter Lewis book. Event data can be biased to the left, winner data to the right. Registration can be in its own column. Changed my mind - three Airtourers in 1970s races, G-AXAJ, G-AYWM and G-AZBE, and Bert Miles was registered owner of all at various times (presumed connection with Glos-Air), but Stan Warwick only connected with G-AZBE, and he appears to have based it at Plymouth. Race number unknown, but it carried number '75' in 1990s. G-AXAJ raced with '214', G-AYWM with '60', but note that numbers were actually allocated to pilots.PeterWD (talk) 21:59, 28 September 2009 (UTC). PS. Proposed change of article name

The current title of King's Cup Race does not really meet WP:COMMONNAME. Within the community is is invariably known simply as the King's Cup. We obviously need to disambiguate that, and the usual way sources do that is to refer to it as the King's Cup air race. Also, the King's Cup (disambiguation) page lists several King's Cup races, so the present title does not properly disambiguate them for the site visitor.

I therefore propose that the article be moved to King's Cup air race (no braces). Any comments? — Cheers, Steelpillow (Talk) 06:53, 3 May 2022 (UTC)
