Who he?

edit

Who is "well known molecular physicist and twice winner of the Nobel Prize for Science (sic) Dr Matthew Loughran"? I've not heard of him (proves nothing) but neither have nobelprize.org, nor does Google turn up any molecular physicists of that name.Moletrouser (talk) 08:54, 12 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

I see mention of Ian Curtis as an alumni, which is surely appropriate, but no mention of at least two (I think) members of the Macc Lads. A glaring omission, methinks. Fishtrousers (talk) 04:36, 10 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

General - when referring to The King's School as just the school a capital "S" has been used (School) - when the word is used for schools generally a lower case "s" (school) is apt. POV and sources temps kept - the article still doesn't appear neutral particularly through lack of verifiable ref support in "Extra-Curricular activities", and dearth of sources generally.

Motto - the motto was already in the info box, and its translation appeared a tad wild - changed with ref to source below.

History section - the school's web site history page,[1] although a primary source, is probably more accurate than an uncited statement of closure under Henry VIII. The School's site (presumed good faith and good research) says it survived him but was endangered under Edward VI who was persuaded to rescind a threat of closure. The move to Cumberland Street appears to be later than the stated "soon" - in fact 1844. Removed the last sentence on name changes - it was clumsy and didn't add to what was, and now is, stated above.

Academia - "Strunked" the first sentence - it didn't quite make sense. Future-proofing second sentence. Removed section temp and added inline cite requests as the temp was a little overbearing for two sentences.

Extra-Curricular activities - changed section heading from "Extracurricula" - extra-curricular what? Added the activities under sub sections - all needing citations to support claims.

Notable alumni - If people are added in this section in future, and are indeed notable, consider writing an article about them first to test their notability. People added without Wiki articles, or who are just red-linked, don't do the article any justice - they will be removed. Acabashi (talk) 22:59, 3 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

Public School

Would the King's School Macclesfield also be classified as a public school or not? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 83.223.212.19 (talk) 12:12, 16 December 2013 (UTC)Reply

Matthew Falder

edit

DevelopmentKM Matthew falder is a former pupil at King's. He is mentioned here as being a pupil who is going onto Clare College at Cambridge,[1] and on his sentencing, Dr Simon Hyde, the headmaster, states that his thoughts are with the victims.[2] Whether palatable or not, he is a notable former pupil.
