REMOVED: "It is also the site of Paramount Canada's Wonderland, a popular amusement park."

  • It's actually not. Canada's Wonderland is in Vaughan.

Oh...I always thought it was actually in King for some reason. I used to think it was in Maple, too :) Oh well. Adam Bishop 00:44, 3 Oct 2003 (UTC)

I believe it is, actually, in Maple (which is a part of Vaughan). If I remember correctly, there is a bus that goes from "downtown" Maple to Wonderland, which only runs during the summer season.

Fair use rationale for Image:Yorkregionseal.PNG

edit

Image:Yorkregionseal.PNG is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

What's In a Name

King, Ontario or King Township, Ontario? 76.64.176.92 (talk) 16:38, 14 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

Ontario township articles on WP currently don't use the term in their name. I can't remember when that decision was made, but I know there was discussion about this. Mindmatrix 22:05, 14 June 2009 (UTC)Reply
I'll also note that this is an official practise as well, as most of the municipal restructuring in the 70s and early 2000s resulted in every township being reorganized into municipalities. Stouffville Township is different from today's Whitchurch-Stouffville - ʄɭoʏɗiaɲ τ ¢ 22:59, 12 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

Just to explain why I added the tag, it is mostly due to the intro.

"King features a picturesque countryside, of which the rolling hills of the Oak Ridges Moraine are the most prominent visible geographical element. The Holland Marsh, considered to be Ontario's "vegetable basket",[2][3] straddles King Township and Bradford West Gwillimbury. King is also known for its prestigious horse farms and cattle farms."

  • Prestigious horse and cattle farms?
  • Picturesque countryside?
  • Oak ridges is most prominent visible feature? I'd say the Holland Marsh is by far the most visible geographic element of the area. The topography of the moraine in York transcends to the ravines of Toronto rather smoothly. It is not something that the every day observer will notice around them. On the other hand, the Holland Marsh is certainly something that, when passing by on Highway 400, turns your head and makes you think "wow" for a second. Of course my view is just as subjective. - ʄɭoʏɗiaɲ τ ¢ 22:55, 12 August 2011 (UTC)Reply
I just removed "picturesque countryside", and "prestigious" had already been removed from the article some time ago. I disagree with your assessment of the relative prominence of the Marsh vis-a-vis the Moraine. Almost all of King sits atop the moraine, and its hills are the distinguishing feature of the township - there aren't many places in King which don't exhibit this hilly terrain. It's rather difficult to not notice the hills. Mindmatrix 15:33, 13 August 2011 (UTC)Reply
