Bogus "recognition" claim

The article claimed that the King Shepherd is "recognized" by the so-called World Wide Kennel Club of Bronxville, New York. It is nothing but a pedigree tracking and cross-acceptance service for people who have questionable pedigrees and/or don't qualify for AKC or another major registry – in short, it's a puppy mill registry. I guess they're also an event organizer (with a grand total of 6 listed, compared to many hundreds in the real national and multi-national kennel clubs.). They define no breeds, and issue no breed standards of any kind. According to their website, they accept registrations of "[a]ny purebred, new breed or rare breed dog eligible for registration in any kennel club" [1]. But there are no major clubs that recognize the King Shepherd, and WWKC doesn't "recognize" breeds anyway. If you assert it's a new breed, they simply record it indiscriminately as such, because their sole function is tracking sires, dams, and offspring, not deciding whether something is a legitimate breed or not. The only thing they won't do is accept random mongrels, since WWKC "encourages breed improvement by requiring the same basic adherence to breed standards as other registry services ... [and] is willing to work with all registries and Clubs [sic] that are working toward the improvement of any breed. ... Owners of any dog registered with any other registry are invited to register and exhibit" with WWKC. I.e., you can use any breed standards, even conflicting ones, from any organizations, even local ones, or a one-breed "club" of you and your nephew promoting a new breed. They just don't care at all what defines a breed or who says so, all they care about is anything resembling a paper trail of progeny, and the money you send with it.

WWKC is also listed as a "no-name" registry on warning sites (e.g. here) about quasi-registrations that are red flags that one may be dealing with a disreputable breeder. WWKC is clearly non-notable. The US organization (incorporated in 1984 but with no public activity until 1990) is also making dubious claims to be the continuation of a UK organization under the same name dating to 1961 (but defunct and thus unable to confirm this).

More "recognized" nonsense

I'm removing claims of "recognition" by the following groups as well: ERBOC (cannot be identified at all; Google turns up nothing); SKC (unverifiable, since there are at least a dozen kennel club (mostly local, some questionable) with this acronym – Sarasota, Svannah, Scottish, Sims, Singapore, Superstition, Sunflower, Springfield, Skyline, etc., etc. – and none of them are notable, nor do they publish breed standards, they simply accept sire–dam–litter lists along with your money); AKSC (that's the group that developed the crossbreed and who are trying to get recognition for it as a breed – saying they "recognize" it is like me declaring my own novel a masterpiece); WWKC (as noted above, they publish no breed standards and just record whatever "breed" you tell them it is); APRI (appearing on multiple warning lists as a bogus puppy mill registry that operates the same way WWKC does; and DRI (ditto). This is worse that trivia, it's blatantly misleading reliance on primary, promotional sources to make false claims of breed recognition. The only vaguely notable organization mentioned in ARBA, and they accept pretty much any attempt to establish a breed from a crossbreed as soon as a breeders' club forms for it and says they're working on it. Regardless of whatever flaws you many see (and I see one in particular), I wouldn't be so quick to WP:AFD the article. Before I was born (which was in 1965), my father told me he had a King Shepherd, which he adopted from a man who claimed they were used by the British Army to attack Kenyan Rebels during the Mau Mau Uprising in the 1950's. ---------User:DanTD (talk) 05:06, 31 May 2019 (UTC)
