'Praise Songs'

I have never heard the term 'praise songs' used in reference to the religious songs used by Jehovah's Witnesses. Additionally, 'praise songs', and more frequently, 'songs of praise', is an expression that would more broadly be used by other religions.--Jeffro77 (talk) 08:31, 23 January 2008 (UTC)

I agree with this: "praise songs" sounds to me more like a name that a born-again or Pentecostal group might use for their songs, but I have never heard it applied to Jehovah's Witnesses' songs, either by Jehovah's Witnesses themselves or by anyone else. Perhaps the fact that two Jehovah's Witnesses' songbook titles are "Songs of Praise to Jehovah" and "Sing Praises to Jehovah" gave rise to the impression that similar phrases are used of the songs generally. Redirect should be reversed.

I've just noticed that "Kingdom songs" has been redirected to "Kingdom Songs" ("Songs" uppercased).

Maybe it's a small point, but I would think the original version is slightly better. Uppercasing "songs" makes it sound as if "Kingdom Songs" is a formal title rather than a generic description, as "Kingdom songs" suggests. While I have come across the term quite often both in speech and writing, to me the sense is more one of a description than a title. The title would surely be (currently) "Singing Praises to Jehovah".

Does anyone agree? M.J.E. (talk) 16:36, 17 April 2008 (UTC)

I agree with you. Summer Song (talk) 15:03, 5 June 2008 (UTC)
I moved it.--Esprit15d • talkcontribs 16:47, 14 July 2008 (UTC)

Deleted info

Why is the paragraph about respecting the songs deleted? There have been information on the conventions about this stuff. Some years ago there were clearly stated that pop and rock versions of the songs should not be made. As far as I know of, this has not been changed. Summer Song (talk) 20:33, 7 July 2008 (UTC)
