Breaking now on NHK World
editThis hour's news break at the top of this hour on NHK World began with breaking news that the Sumo Wrestling Board has officially given a recommendation that Kisenosato be "promoted to the highest rank of yokozuna, or grand champion", as per the news crawl at the bottom of the screen. So when the full board votes on this and it becomes 100% official, be prepared to add this information to his bio. This is exciting news (a.) because he'll be the first new Japanese-born yokozuna in many years and (b.) he suffered so many defeats and setbacks along the way. Hooray for Kisenosato!!! 2602:306:BD68:740:1CE0:A93E:C357:42CC (talk) 10:05, 23 January 2017 (UTC)
- Hooray indeed :-) Even though it's a formality, the promotion won't officially happen until Wednesday so we must wait until then before describing him as a yokozuna. Technically the Sumo Association have merely "recommended" promotion to the Yokozuna Deliberation Council. We all know they'll rubber-stamp it, but the meeting is still two days away.--Pawnkingthree (talk) 13:27, 23 January 2017 (UTC)
- Yes, I assume we'll be updating this, the list of yokozuna, and other related pages when it becomes "officially official" on Wednesday. Aaron north (T/C) 03:55, 24 January 2017 (UTC)
Yokozuna pic
editNice picture, but does anyone else think it might be better to put it in the yokozuna section of the article instead and keep the previous image in the infobox? That way we could keep both in the article.--Pawnkingthree (talk) 19:45, 27 January 2017 (UTC)
Agreed, as most other rikishi pics have a similar close up and framing to the one that was being used. FourTildes (talk) 14:14, 28 January 2017 (UTC)
