Possible primary topic
editIt's not clear that Kitten is the primary topic for Kitty. Kitty can just as easily refer to Cat, never mind all the other meanings. A full WP:RM should be started. Tassedethe (talk) 16:33, 11 May 2013 (UTC)
- I guess it should, then. I think anyone who types in "kitty" is looking for a kitten (and is only one click away from "cat" anyway). But let's see... Red Slash 01:05, 15 May 2013 (UTC)

Kitty → Kitty (disambiguation) – I think we can be pretty sure that someone typing in kitty is looking for kitten. If they're looking for just plain cat, going to kitten still puts them just one easy click away. There are a handful of relatively irrelevant (in my opinion) other potential topics but I think this one is primary. After moving, if this proposal is enacted, kitty will WP:REDIRECT to kitten. - There is a way to test what the reader is looking for when arriving at the dab page. I have created new piped redirects from "cat (animal)" and "kitten (animal)" to use only on the dab page. After a few days, the number of hits on each and the total for the dab page can be compared here. — AjaxSmack 01:37, 15 May 2013 (UTC)
- Oppose sorry but for me this kind of ultra-ambiguous term is what disambiguation pages were made for. In ictu oculi (talk) 01:26, 15 May 2013 (UTC)
- Oppose per my comment above, kitty can just as easily refer to cat. Tassedethe (talk) 01:35, 15 May 2013 (UTC)
- Oppose kitty is frequently used for adult cats as well, not to mention savings. -- 65.94.76.126 (talk) 04:34, 15 May 2013 (UTC)
- Oppose. I very much doubt anyone looking for kitten would type, or expect to find it as kitty. Zarcadia (talk) 11:51, 15 May 2013 (UTC)
- Oppose. Unless the experiment to track page traffic reveals a remarkable disproportion, I can't really see a primary topic here. older ≠ wiser 12:23, 16 May 2013 (UTC)
- Oppose: it seems unlikely that an encyclopedia user would use a childish term such as "kitty" if they wanted to learn about cats or kittens - more likely to be one of the many other uses. PamD 17:32, 16 May 2013 (UTC)
- Oppose as "kitty" for kitten is every bit as much a colloquialism as any of the other uses, such as "Kitty" to abbreviate "Catherine" (Kitty Genovese, for example) or "the kitty" as a petty cash reserve. K7L (talk) 23:57, 19 May 2013 (UTC)
- Oppose; this being an encyclopædia, we can only hope that most people wanting kitten will actually type "kitten"; when we consider all the other possible uses of the word, a disambiguation page is best. bobrayner (talk) 19:47, 20 May 2013 (UTC)
