Family

edit

Uh, the Knickerbocker family's "prestige," "power," and "estimated wealth" sound like patent nonsense to me. So far as I know, no branch of my family has ever been involved in any of the prominent businesses that use our name.

What IS interesting about the Knickerbocker family, meanwhile, is that it has a well-established single ancestor in America, Harmen Jansen. The family name grew out of combinations of various combinations of appellations he used, and whatever meaning it had is probably lost forever.

Knickerbocker "prestige" had nothing to do with the actual family, but how those with prestige in New York took to a fictional character by that name. Geoffinkc (talk) 21:13, 11 August 2010 (UTC)Reply
