"He was the youngest of five brothers." - Should "was" be changed to "is"? The past tense suggests the actor is deceased. --Kslain 04:05, 22 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Name

edit

From: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:MOS-JP#Names_of_modern_figures

Spelling, including macron usage, of the name of a modern figure should adhere to the following, in order of preference: 1. Use the form personally or professionally used by the person, if available in the English/Latin alphabet;

Since Koji Yakusho appears in international films, can anyone provide evidence that Koji Yakusho uses a macron in his name in cinema credits? JoshuSasori (talk) 08:25, 10 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

the great Koji Y.

edit

Manohla Dargis of the New York Times has referred to him "the great Koji Yakusho."[2]

The recent edits seem like an overall improvement, but does this really fit in the opening? Most people will not have heard of Manohla Dargis, and the quote is a little bit meaningless (it could be sarcastic even). JoshuSasori (talk) 03:51, 17 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

Kōji YakushoKoji Yakusho – His name is spelt without a macron on his own site, Japan Zone, JFDB, and on the majority of Roman-character posters for films he has starred in, including Under the Open Sky, The Third Muder, Silk, Tokyo Sonata, Memoirs of a Geisha, and 13 Assassins (though not Babel, on which it's spelt "Kôji Yakusho", but that's the only time I've seen that used officially).

According to WP:SPNC, the exact spelling that appears to be preferred by a person themselves should be followed regarding minor spelling variations (though when they are best-known under a completely different name, that should be used instead). Tempjrds (talk) 23:27, 17 February 2022 (UTC)Reply
