Dutch origin?

edit

Did anything other than the name have a Dutch origin? Neither coconuts nor rice grow well in north west Europe. Kevin McE (talk) 00:03, 12 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

To be honest I had the same question myself. What I assumed was that the Sri Lankans might have taken a Dutch dish and substituted their own ingredients for it or something like that. Still, I couldn't find any sources that explicitly mention this and the available ones say that it came from the Dutch, so I left it as it is. Chamal TC 00:46, 12 April 2013 (UTC)Reply
So the unsourced and illogical claim remains in the article, and is to appear on the main page? Kevin McE (talk) 10:42, 12 April 2013 (UTC)Reply
The claims in the article are perfectly sourced. It's only your assumptions and mine that are absent from the article, the inclusion of which would be original research. Chamal TC 10:53, 12 April 2013 (UTC)Reply
