editFollowing Wikipedia policy on article names (which says "What .. would the average user of the Wikipedia put into the search engine?") we have been listing Japanese woodblock prints artists under the names they are commonly known by in the West - which means we do not use their complete names (which are rarely used in the West, and for artists of this era change over time anyway). Please see Talk:Sharaku for an extended discussion on this topic. Please leave them where they are. Thank you. Noel 20:29, 10 Oct 2004 (UTC)
The naming of the page (Kunisada vs. Utagawa Kunisada vs. Toyokuni III) was done *only* after careful research to see what the most common form of his name was. The results are:
Kunisada 9,850
Kunisada NOT "Toyokuni III" 8,840
Kunisada NOT "Kunisada I" 9,660
Kunisada NOT "Utagawa Kunisada" 8,790
Kunisada AND "Toyokuni III" 1,040
"Toyokuni III" NOT Kunisada 433
Hence the choice of "Kunisada". DO NOT RENAME! Noel 02:44, 20 Aug 2003 (UTC)
