Thoreau as child

"Henry David Thoreau, who wrote as if from the perspective of a child," - seems a very strange thing to write. What in all of Thoreau is written anything like "from the perspective of a child"? He seems to me one of the least child-like writers I can think of. Because of his simplicity of lifestyle and fondness for saying "No"?! 122.106.31.40 (talk) 14:42, 25 January 2019 (UTC)

The "External links" needs to be examined for trimming. Thirteen links are likely to include link farming. Providing additional information is not a bad thing we still need to comply with ELPOINTS #3, links to avoid, and EL official, with a goal of minimizing the number of links. I think Curlie is unnecessary - do we link there that much ? Not sure if isfdb and sfadb add much. -- Beardo (talk) 23:31, 24 February 2021 (UTC).

Kurt Vonnegut

Concerning the "genetic disposition for paranoid schizophrenia" information. More research is necessary. High probability that it was due to Nazi experimenting whilst captured. The death camp architects were experimenting with eugenics (certain archaic psychiatric methods & medications still in use today) & so called "anti-psychotics". The documentary Age Of Fear "Psychiatry's Reign Of Terror" has alot of good information & points to historical documents & current research regarding this topic. 2603:7080:73F:D9AB:1CDA:E5D4:30D3:9538 (talk) 06:10, 29 May 2022 (UTC)

Wikipedia explicitly does not host original research. If there's no reliable sources to support such a theory, it shouldn't be included in the article. Beeblebrox (talk) 08:10, 29 May 2022 (UTC)

Ice-9 as a recurring topic

Contrary to what was stated in Talk:Kurt Vonnegut/Archive 3#ice-9 recurring?, I'm pretty sure that Cat's Cradle is not Vonnegut's only work that discusses the idea of ice-nine. I'm pretty sure it's in Deadeye Dick, in particular, and I think it's also in others (one of which might be Between Time and Timbuktu). — BarrelProof (talk) 12:39, 11 June 2022 (UTC)

I think we would only include it if a secondary source felt it was significant.--Wehwalt (talk) 17:37, 11 June 2022 (UTC)

Charitable work

Having recently re-read a couple of Vonnegut's novels (Breakfast of Champions, Timequake) in which he champions socialist ideals and repeatedly emphasizes his opinion that it is our duty to assist one another through the minefield of life, I came here expecting to find information about his charitable work - his success must have made him sufficiently rich, famous, or both to do plenty of good wherever he chose to focus: he is, or was, a household name, after all. But, nothing. Surely there must be information on this topic that can be added to improve the article. 123.193.137.85 (talk) 15:06, 29 December 2022 (UTC)
