Tourist spots where LGTB aren't 'welcome'
editI think this article should include popular tourist spots where gay men and women are NOT welcome. Examples includes much of the Carribbean. --Bud 06:44, 6 January 2006 (UTC)
- I agree. Ghent 20:59, 7 June 2006 (UTC)
- I agree also. Is there already a page about that topic, or not? I think it would be a big plus to include it in this article.
- Btw, I've changed the beginning of this page. This subject (about touristspots where LGTB's aren't welcome) was on top of this page, and was not listed. Now it is. Since this was the first edit on this talkpage, I've put it on top of the talksubjects. --Robster1983 19:35, 19 May 2007 (UTC)
Linkspam
editAs has been clearly shown this page can attract "link spam" or promotional links. I think it would be a good idea to establish a clear "policy" on this talk page as to what is and what is not an acceptable external link in this article. Are there any others that feel this would be a good idea (or not)? Also ideas as to what is "acceptable"? For example, in my opinion I think that all "travel guide" web sites to specific locations should be "unacceptable" in the external links section-- maybe "travel guide" web sites on a national level could be acceptable, but certainly not individual cities. If every city with a gay guide joined the list, this article will quickly become suspect. I would prefer that the links in this section are only about general "gay tourism" issues.
As an alternative to these local "gay guide" links in the external links section, a possibility might be that these links, perhaps in a more discrete manner, could be part of the "List of gay travel destinations" after the corresponding text description of "why this location is considered a "gay travel destination".
I'd like to get a dialogue going here, so the external links section can be cleaned up a bit, and perhaps we end up with an article that requires less "maintenance" in the long-run. Comments? Ideas? --SFDan 15:58, 22 November 2006 (UTC)
- I think that, as wikipedia is often seen as a source for information which can lead to commerce, it's important to have a list of gay travel websites although I agree that city by city would become a bit preposterous. I have seen pages that address such micro issues (for example the Hawaii beaches page has all of Hawaii's different beaches listed with a link to each one). Could this be a method? Can we include national/international travel companies without loosing the necessary bipartisanship?

- Actually our guidelines on external links are there to prevent that. As a suggestion, we can link the groups that are notable as evidenced by their articles being on wikipedia. Simply add them to the See also section if they aren't already in the text. Banjeboi 23:21, 25 August 2008 (UTC)
This article lacks a lot of information
editYou should mention Spain (one of the most visited countries in the world) is one of major countries in the world that receives more gay tourism. From Barcelona and Sitges, along the whole Spanish Mediterranean coast to the Canary Islands, plus the Spanish capital, Madrid. Currently there is a plan in Spain to attract more gay tourism than ever. Most gay people from Europe have probably heard of Sitges, Barcelona, Gran Canaria as gay destinations. 86.181.21.55 (talk) 17:11, 15 January 2010 (UTC)
The article on Gran Canaria doesn't indicate a particular connection with this topic of LGBT tourism, so i was wondering if anybody had references which could be used here to support the inclusion of Gran Canaria in the list of SEE ALSO wikilinks? ~Teledildonix314~Talk~411~ 17:59, 25 May 2015 (UTC)
New Sections
editI just added a couple sections to LGBT Tourism: I added LGBT Family travel to elaborate a little bit on what was already there, I also added LGBT events-j ust some of the major ones that go on it the world since there is a wiki page that lists LGBT events around the world and also LGBT travel resources. The content synthesized a number of research articles and current material on this topic. Please do let me know if you have suggestions or can point to additional material to support this contribution. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Rdunn23 (talk • contribs) 03:37, 18 November 2013 (UTC)

Headings
editI think the name of the section "gay tourism specialist" should be changed to something different.. maybe something like LGBT trip specialist. That way the page flows better and it sounds a lot better than gay tourism specialist. Mnguytono (talk) 18:11, 1 April 2019 (UTC)mnguytono
Reliance on GayTravel.com
editGayTravel.com is not really a reliable source - probably going to follow this page but it is better to have a published source for such a list. Will probably add some later. LegalSmeagolian (talk) 22:59, 7 February 2023 (UTC)
- @LegalSmeagolian Tel Aviv and Bangkok probably shouldn't be on the list period, especially above other cities like pretty much any city in the western world. Should we bring this up at the WP:Reliable sources noticeboard? ✶Mitch199811✶ 21:09, 4 August 2023 (UTC)
- I don't think it is necessary to do so - finally getting around to cleaning up this article. LegalSmeagolian (talk) 03:22, 6 March 2024 (UTC)
