WP:MILHIST Assessment
editIs is possible to expand the introduction? Just one sentence or two describing why this class is significant or interesting; what sets it apart from other classes? LordAmeth 08:54, 10 November 2006 (UTC)
- Righto, I'll do that over the weekend. Emoscopes Talk 12:03, 10 November 2006 (UTC)
Calling Tony Stark
edit"armoured wheelhouse"? Without Lenton in front of me, I'd say this is nothing more than splinter protection. Can it be reworded for the uninitiated, who are liable to think this was equal to the turrets of KGV? TREKphiler hit me ♠ 10:34, 30 August 2008 (UTC)
- Technically 'splinter proof' in the RN means at least 1 to 1.5 inch (25-37mm) of 'D' steel plating, as it denoted the ability to stop splinters from exploding shells. Bullet proof means being able to resist rifle calibre bullets, and can be as thin as 1/3 inch or 8mm. I have not found any references to splinter proof plating on RN DDs amongst numerous reference worksDamwiki1 (talk) 01:08, 11 February 2010 (UTC)
- I won't argue "bulletproof", if RN had a spec for splinterproof; I'm using it on a (loose) understanding of USN meaning, which may have a very different actual spec. If the L&Ms were spec for bulletproof (as defined), put it back. TREKphiler any time you're ready, Uhura 01:25, 11 February 2010 (UTC)
Intro missing material?
editThis article has been tagged for intro being too short for over 6 years. Does anyone have a suggestion about what needs to be added? RJFJR (talk) 13:59, 17 December 2016 (UTC)
- See E and F-class destroyer for an example of a ship class article. Basically needs to cover the activities of the individual ships.--Sturmvogel 66 (talk) 14:27, 17 December 2016 (UTC)
1937 Naval Estimates?
editWhat are the "1937 Naval Estimates"? Is there an article we can link to? RJFJR (talk) 14:56, 20 December 2016 (UTC)
- The navy's budget. No, no article.--Sturmvogel 66 (talk) 16:01, 20 December 2016 (UTC)
- Perhaps https://api.parliament.uk/historic-hansard/commons/1937/mar/11/navy-estimates-1937 UK Hansard. An interesting insight to UK war preparations. Malchemist (talk) 07:10, 26 April 2018 (UTC)
