THANKS to the anonymous user who expanded the article. Hey, why don't you register and contribute on a regular basis? We are VERY short-staffed in the Fijian department (only one regular contributor, plus a Fijian editor who corrects that contributor's errors, and a few occasional visitors), so I desperately hope you'll stay with us and lighten our workload! Naag Mandir (Temple)

edit

Fifteen to twenty minutes out of Labasa town going towards Nagigi (north), you fill find the Naag Patthar Mandir (or Snake Temple). There is a very large piece of stone that is shaped like the head of a King Cobra. The mystery is that the stone is several meters high now has been growing since 1970's. It started at a height of a 1 to 2 meters. Locals see this is a holy place and have built a temple around it.

This is a very spiritual area of worship where thousands of people come to pray every year. It is believed that the king of snakes dwells within a small cave just before the temple. No one has seen or has been in contact with the cobra; however, people have made attempts to enter the cave with torches. According to the locals, it is believed that the gap of the cave decreases to such an extent, you have to 'slither' in order to enter.

In addition to this, the stones near the temple are also miraculous. Images of Hindu gods have begun to occur. People pray to these images and believe it is a good sign.
