Is there a reason that "(New York)" needs to be in the title? There doesn't appear to be any other articles entitled "Lafayette Welcoming Parade of 1824" so I think this is unnecessary disambiguation. The Rambling Man (talk) 08:54, 25 April 2016 (UTC)Reply
- I intend, in the coming weeks, to start additional articles on Lafayette welcoming parades that occurred in 1824, The Rambling Man. At least the Philadelphia and Baltimore ones, anyway. (
I would have done this sooner, however, I was feeling depressed and unmotivated due to my lack of proper decoration in the form a 50 DYK medal. As a result, these additional articles may be delayed slightly as I work through my emotions. - edit - friendly levity not received as intended) LavaBaron (talk) 01:14, 27 April 2016 (UTC)Reply
- Ok, well until you're over that, I'll move the article to a more suitable title, just in case your don't get over it. The Rambling Man (talk) 05:43, 27 April 2016 (UTC)Reply
- Oh Jesus. LavaBaron (talk) 07:46, 27 April 2016 (UTC)Reply
- I'm not sure what that has to do with anything, but good luck with your emotional recovery. Take a break. The Rambling Man (talk) 07:55, 27 April 2016 (UTC)Reply
- Twelve minutes later and it had to be moved back. Great use of editor time and resources on a shell game. LavaBaron (talk) 08:09, 27 April 2016 (UTC)Reply
- Glad to see you've made such a rapid recovery, weeks to minutes. Excellent! The Rambling Man (talk) 08:24, 27 April 2016 (UTC)Reply
- Wait - you're the hyphens guy, right? Surely there's a hyphen somewhere you can fix while the rest of us write this encyclopedia. LavaBaron (talk) 08:40, 27 April 2016 (UTC)Reply
- Yeah, plus the 162 good articles, 50+ featured lists, 10+ featured articles and two featured topics. Get back to crying for your awards, and stop wasting any more time. The Rambling Man (talk) 09:04, 27 April 2016 (UTC)Reply
- Speaking of wasting time, I'm going to go ahead and close what has become an entirely off-topic C.V. thread. LavaBaron (talk) 19:59, 27 April 2016 (UTC)Reply
- You can try that but since you're directly involved, you cannot simply add a last bitch and then close the discussion. Try harder next time, and if you'd like a barnstar for being a dick, let me know, there are plenty of people around who would be prepared to award it to you. The Rambling Man (talk) 20:27, 27 April 2016 (UTC)Reply
Please! I'm always up for barnstars, for any reason. Muchos gracias, edit - comments struck; friendly levity not received as intended The Rambling Man - LavaBaron (talk) 20:29, 27 April 2016 (UTC)Reply
- Indeed. So stop harping on about your contributions, others here have contributed far more than you ever will, your DYKs are a nice piece of fun and I'm certain they're enjoyed by some, but let the rest of us continue to build a body of work we can be proud of without all the "emotional distress". It's boring. I'm sure you have massively interesting social media accounts where you can tell everyone how emotional you are, Wikipedia is not the place to do that. Please, now, move along, and allow the rest of us to work in peace. The Rambling Man (talk) 20:35, 27 April 2016 (UTC)Reply
- Move along? Move where? I started, and am thus far the only one working on, this article. No one is disturbing your "peace." I'm not pinging you. I tried to diffuse the tension you've introduced with some levity and that didn't work. I even tried to archive the discussion and you undid it so you could continue conversing about everything other than the New York Lafayette Welcoming Parade of 1824. If you want a forum to attack the value of my overall WP contributions, please feel free to use my Talk page. All discussion here should be related to the New York Lafayette Welcoming Parade of 1824. I'm going to request an uninvolved editor close this thread now since you won't permit me to do so and it clearly has nothing to do with the New York Lafayette Welcoming Parade of 1824. Thanks. LavaBaron (talk) 20:50, 27 April 2016 (UTC)Reply
At the end of the day, you need to look at yourself and your lack of communication skills. You claimed that you weren't emotionally able enough to write the other article for a few weeks. It might have been that you would never recover from the lack of applause. So I did the right thing. You made a miraculous recovery and then went on the attack claiming all I did was fix dashes. Turns out I do a lot more, then you get all pissy and claim I'm writing a CV and closing a discussion after your own comment. Hopefully you will learn from this, and either take a long break or start behaving yourself. Either way your actions are thus noted. The Rambling Man (talk) 20:59, 27 April 2016 (UTC)Reply
- Thanks for your input. We should probably try to keep this Talk page focused on "Lafayette Welcoming Parade of 1824 (New York)", however. I do always welcome feedback on my communications skills - both positive and negative - on my Talk page, though. LavaBaron (talk) 21:04, 27 April 2016 (UTC)Reply
- Feel free to copy and paste this with correct attribution of course. After all, you were the one to resort to personal criticism. Hopefully you'll learn from this. Now then, the last word is yours, as you seem keen to add in all your contributions, whether it be of any benefit or not, so the rest of the page is yours! Do learn though, it's terribly boring to have to review endless edits for correctness. The Rambling Man (talk) 21:13, 27 April 2016 (UTC)Reply
- It would probably be best if all comments on this Talk page related to the "Lafayette Welcoming Parade of 1824 (New York)". LavaBaron (talk) 21:16, 27 April 2016 (UTC)Reply
- Agreed, so next time you attempt to communicate with someone, don't resort to pathetic accusations relating to dashes. You're the one who ends up looking like a dick. Now feel free to close the discussion! The Rambling Man (talk) 21:23, 27 April 2016 (UTC)Reply
- I really need to stress that comments on this Talk page should be related to the article "Lafayette Welcoming Parade of 1824 (New York)". Me being a "pathetic" "dick" [sic] might be a little off-topic. Let's work collaboratively to gently refocus this discussion to topical matters. I can start. Should the "later events" section be expanded? LavaBaron (talk) 21:34, 27 April 2016 (UTC)Reply
