Material on resignation
editAdvani has not stated anywhere that his decision to step down was related to Narendra Modi's elevation. That is clearly speculation by the journalist and does not have sufficient weight to be included on a biography of a living person. — Nearly Headless Nick {c} 18:51, 13 June 2013 (UTC)
- Agreed. Indian 'journalism' obviously plays second-fiddle to BLP here.Pectoretalk 06:06, 17 June 2013 (UTC)
OR tag
editI just tagged the "Rise of the BJP"section for OR, because it contains statements about the discontent with the congress and such that have no citations. Vanamonde93 (talk) 11:35, 5 December 2013 (UTC)
Statue of Patel
editIs the fact that Advani inaugurated the statue of Patel really necessary? Okay, it is a tall statue, but why is that important to this man's bio? If I do not see a reasonable explanation, I propose to delete said section. Vanamonde93 (talk) 00:06, 10 January 2014 (UTC)
Pictures
editRonanin, we really don't need that many pictures of Advani and various dignitaries. Could you please explain your rationale for adding as many as you have? Vanamonde93 (talk) 19:43, 12 January 2014 (UTC)
- Ronanin, Precisely why are you ignoring this message? You've edited this page after I posted this. Vanamonde93 (talk) 03:37, 13 January 2014 (UTC)
Controversies
editSurely there should be a section related to controversies? Advani is well known to have been implicated in the babri masjid demolition and this page completely avoids this.
- It is in the Rise of BJP section, but it needs more coverage. Please feel free to expand. -- Kautilya3 (talk) 17:05, 30 September 2016 (UTC)

I'm sorry I have to do this, but I am convinced that the article does not meet WP:GA?#3a and hence I am compelled to quick fail it. With 11285 characters (1922 words) of readable prose size, the article is not broad in its coverage, especially for a politician of stature of Advani. And let me make it clear, the word count is just an example, I am not basing my decision entirely on this basis. Lets see. Advani served as the Home Minister and the Deputy Prime Minister from 1998 to 2004, a key position in Indian politics and a role important in basing a lot of governmental decisions. We describe this aspect of his life in a grand total of 112 words:
- "In the 1998 general election, the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA), came to power with Vajpayee returning as Prime Minister in March 1998. Advani was elected to the Lok Sabha for the third term and became the Home Minister. However, the government again collapsed after only thirteen months when All Indian Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) under J. Jayalalitha withdrew its support to the government. With fresh elections being called, the BJP led NDA again won a majority in the 1999 general election and Advani won from Gandhinagar for the fourth term. He assumed the office of Home Minister and was later elevated to the position of Deputy Prime Minister in 2002."
Really! This seems more like a timeline. What did he do in those years, what official decisions did he take in that capacity? What were the implications of those decisions? What do modern scholars claim about Advani's tenure as home minister? Why was he elevated as the dept. PM? Was there any political pressure on Vajpayee to do so? What was Advani's role in the 1999 elections? Did he campaign? If so, what issues did he raise during the campaign? What do modern scholars have to say about his role in NDA's victory in '99? This is just an example. The same argument can be made for almost every paragraph. We have a sub-section titled '2009-15: Prime Minister candidacy and later years', but 50 percent on content within it discusses of events that took place before 2009.
I feel that the article needs to be re-written top-to-bottom, more printed text (books, journals, etc) needs to be cited to make it comprehensive. Comprehensiveness is what matters, the character count is just a mere number, but I feel that an article on such a subject can rarely be comprehensive below 45-50 K characters. Feel free to ask me to re-review the article whenever the above mentioned issues are duly dealt with! Thanks for all your work on Wikipedia. – Kavyansh.Singh (talk) 19:03, 19 June 2024 (UTC)
