C.J. PerryLana (wrestling) – Common name. Perry gained exposure by her work in WWE as Lana (the article was created when she debuted in WWE). She has worked for months in the main roster, even she appeared in the news due the storyline with Putin. Her work as Lana has more exposure than her previous works. --HHH Pedrigree (talk) 13:44, 18 September 2014 (UTC)Reply

Not sure about this one. It's a topical gimmick, and the crowd doesn't have the patience to wait for a "defection" (face turn) like they did with Nikolai Volkoff. I'm no psychic, but I don't see a place for her after Rusev turns. At least not as "Lana". Not sure we should jump just yet, especially with her other work here, which seems fairly notable, even if it took the much more notable WWE thing to influence someone to create the article. InedibleHulk (talk) 22:47, 18 September 2014 (UTC)Reply
  • Support - more success and (even mainstream) exposure through WWE as Lana compared to the cameos in films that actually have an article on Wikipedia, or cameos in one television episode of TV serials that actually have an article on Wikipedia. starship.paint ~ regal 02:16, 23 September 2014 (UTC)Reply
  • Oppose - She has a prolific career as an actress. She appeared in hit movies ("Pitch Perfect") and hit shows ("The Real Housewives of Atlanta") and will also be in "Pitch Perfect 2." Not to mention, C.J. Perry is a natural disambiguator, whereas Lana (wrestling) is not. --GeicoHen (talk) 05:12, 23 September 2014 (UTC)Reply
    • She appeared in Pitch Perfect in a minor role (even in the article she doesn't appear as the cast). She appeared in some TV shows, but in one episode. Hen, looks like you don't know how notability works. Perry gained national and worldwide exposure in the WWE as Lana. She appears week after week in a worldwide TV show (3.0) as Lana. Also, she appeared in the news after Putin debuted in RAW and when she made a promo about the plain accident. You can't compare her role in WWE with a supporting character in Tv or a film. --HHH Pedrigree (talk) 13:04, 23 September 2014 (UTC)Reply
    • Comment - The one concern I still have is if "(wrestling)" is the right disambiguator or not. --GeicoHen (talk) 18:00, 23 September 2014 (UTC)Reply
    • I asked in the project. Lana isn't a wrestler, she is a valet, so looks weird to use (wrestler). --HHH Pedrigree (talk) 18:04, 23 September 2014 (UTC)Reply
Lana (valet), maybe? InedibleHulk (talk) 20:09, 24 September 2014 (UTC)Reply

Lana (wrestling)Lana (wrestler) – The current name says Wrestling. What is that supposed to mean? It isn't about a wrestling related term, but a wrestler, hence I think a move is needed Rsrikanth05 (talk) 06:46, 29 December 2014 (UTC).Reply

Yeah, I do agree, but we surely can do better than a three-word or even two-word disambiguator. Red Slash 08:22, 30 December 2014 (UTC)Reply

Is Lana a wrestler?

edit

I and Tyler Gonzalez seem to be starting an Edit war over whether or not Lana is a wrestler. I don't think she is because she hasn't been in a match yet, and until then I don't think it's right to add her as a wrestler. Of course, if there are reliable sources which say she's a wrestler, I'll take that. But I can't see (as it is now) how she is one. --wL<speak·check> 05:26, 27 July 2015 (UTC)Reply

  • As of August 11th 2015, Lana has still yet to feature in an officially sanctioned match. Therefore, it seems inaccurate to call her a wrestler outright. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.165.111.73 (User talk:86.165.111.73) 18:53, 11 August 2015‎ (UTC)

Her moves!

edit

She slaps people and also uses Brie Bella's finisher. We have yet to see what her 'official' finisher will be, but she stole that move from Brie.PeterMan844 (talk) 17:18, 13 March 2016 (UTC)Reply

The roundhouse kick should be listed as a finishing move because she has been using it since her rivalry with Summer Rae in 2015. Even non-wrestlers use moves in the ring sometimes (e.g. SoCal Val and Lilian Garcia). DantODB (talk) 22:47, 18 March 2016 (UTC)Reply

Character surname

edit

Given the marriage to Alexander Rusev does anyone recall hearing her called either Mrs. Rusev or Lana Rusev or something? I feel like I might have heard this months ago but not sure. Ranze (talk) 04:12, 3 May 2016 (UTC)Reply

Lana (wrestling)Lana (wrestler) – Now that Perry is an active wrestler, moving the page to the standard suffix "(wrestler)" will bring it into line with all other wrestler biographies. McPhail (talk) 18:14, 13 May 2016 (UTC)Reply

One question. I haven't watched in awhile so I'm unsure how frequently she wrestles. Michael Cole (wrestling) had a somewhat notable (even if for not the right reasons) in-ring career but is primarily known as a commentator. Most of Lana's career has been as a manager and the most recent update in her bio indicates she is managing Rusev again. If she's primarily a manager and wrestles only sporadically then I think the (wrestling) suffix should stay where it is.LM2000 (talk) 22:25, 13 May 2016 (UTC)Reply
  • Oppose I see six matches from April 3-23, five untelevised and all eight-to-ten-woman tags. Jim Cornette did a lot of six-mans, for many years, but nobody seriously considers him a wrestler. She'll need a singles run (even a short one) before I can get behind this. InedibleHulk (talk) 21:26, 17 May 2016 (UTC)Reply
If you were wondering if her WrestleMania match involved wrestling: "And yes, Lana actually did a few moves. Savat kicks and the like. Some quick striking and then a tag out." It's spelled "savate", but the point stays the same. Doesn't appear to know a wristlock from a wristwatch, as "they" say. I'll need to at least see some clinchwork. Bella Buster

edit

I believe that the Bella Buster should be listed as Lana's finishing move since it was a prominent part of the Brie-Lana feud as well as being used to finish segments. If I could get more editors to weigh in on this, that would be great. DantODB 01:41, 27 December 2016 (UTC)

  • Can't agree with this logic. Firstly, wrestlers performing one another's finishers on each other is commonplace: Austin and Rock using the Rock Bottom and Stunner on one another; Triple H Tombstoning Undertaker; Cena and Orton giving one another RKOs and Attitude Adjustments. Doesn't make it *their* signature/finishing move. Secondly, the move was never used to finish a match (or even *in* a match), so it's patently not a finisher. Thirdly, as far as I can tell, the move was only used twice. McPhail (talk) 15:25, 27 December 2016 (UTC)Reply

Lana (wrestling)Lana (wrestler) – Common name. She's an active wrestler on the roster now, isn't it? The word of "wrestling" means now what she do / doing something right now. And the word of "wrestler" means she's a athlete / sport what she do? To this article the matching name was "Lana (wrestler)" not "Lana (wrestling)", aren't it? Think about it and redirect or not... Approve:The page is not about wrestling itself, but the performer. - Kiraroshi1976 (talk) 07:28, 10 June 2017 (UTC)Reply
Weak oppose The article title includes "wrestling" because she was primarily a manager, not a wrestler (ex: Michael Cole (wrestling), Tom Phillips (wrestling). Despite being on the active roster now, she hasn't won a single match on television yet, and is still commonly known as a manager.
Oppose Per my comments on the last RM and Sekyaw's statements above. I know it's been a year since the last RM but I still think it's WP:TOOSOON.LM2000 (talk) 23:29, 12 June 2017 (UTC)Reply
Approve: She has been training as a wrestler and will most likely compete more often.1Sire (talk) 18:20, 14 June 2017 (UTC)Reply
Oppose. She has yet to win a match; It's a line call whether to call her a wrestler, it may happen, may not, but she's certainly a manager. Andrewa (talk) 09:50, 16 June 2017 (UTC)Reply

Lana (wrestling)Lana (wrestler) – Last year, it was discussed this move. However, some users though it was TOOSOON. One year after, Lana has wrestled several matches, becoming a full-time wrestler. She has participated in Money in the Bank, Mixed Match Challenge, Royal Rumble... I think she is a wrestler, and "(wrestling)" is obsolete. --HHH Pedrigree (talk) 08:00, 17 July 2018 (UTC)--Relisting. Dekimasuよ! 20:31, 24 July 2018 (UTC)Reply

Support - We only use (wrestling) on BLPs where the person couldn't really be called a wrestler at all. Usually for managers who have little to no wrestling exposure (Slick (wrestling) for example who cagematch has down as wrestling 6 matches). Lana is now a full time wrestler, and despite being most commonly known as a manager, she should be referred to as Lana (wrestler) Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 10:04, 17 July 2018 (UTC)Reply
@Lee Vilenski: I really wouldn't called Lana a full-time wrestler. She hasn't wrestled since Money in the Bank. She has hardly wrestled leading up to it as well. The most she wrestled at one time on the main roster was when she was feuding with Naomi for the SmackDown Women's Championship. Mr. C.C.Hey yo!I didn't do it! 05:49, 22 July 2018 (UTC)Reply

hi, is this an ok reliable source for the divorce https://metro.co.uk/2019/12/10/wwe-raw-rusev-lana-divorce-11589327/ Govindaharihari (talk) 16:26, 31 December 2019 (UTC)Reply

I certainly agree with them that WWE has "blurred the lines". But Metro is a tabloid freesheet, so we expect junk food news. It is a reliable source for statements beginning "Metro reported... " But to be clear, they are reporting a WWE storyline (kayfabe). Divorce is a legal process. It generally begins with filing of a petition from one of the parties, with a court. Like a marriage, it creates a public record. (William Shatner did it recently, causing a flurry of edits from folk who thought it meant his marriage was instantly dissolved.) Nobody has reported such a filing for this marriage, as far as I know. But then, the reference for the marriage itself is to wwe.com, so perhaps we should start with a RS for that. William Avery (talk) 18:29, 31 December 2019 (UTC)Reply
