Early?

I would not count 1897 as "early". According to List of early British railway companies "early" means up to the end of 1850. Biscuittin (talk) 12:05, 1 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

Assuming you deleted that in 2009, someone has reinstated the category "Early British Railway Companies" :-(

And apparently in 1887 "the Manchester, Sheffield and Lincolnshire Railway was still in its infancy"!

The whole article as at present is bizarre; 458 words of historical development; 3,101 words of other material.

The huge list of "further material" (38 entries) is regrettable. For example Jowett's Nationalised Atlas is included; British Railways Past and Present is included, with no indication of why. And yet Mitchell, of Middleton Press fame, "Chesterfield To Lincoln" is not. Afterbrunel (talk) 19:42, 28 December 2019 (UTC)Reply
