Current squad
editMany thanks for the addition of 'Current squad'. The practice is not to date this entry since the squad will change during the season and edits can be made 'as and when'. --BlueValour 03:38, 13 June 2006 (UTC)
GA on hold
editThis article has quite a long way to go and needs a lot of work
- References
- WP:RS strongly recommends against using slef-references. Most of the article's history section is sourced to LCCC's website, and this needs to change a lot.
- Missing facets
- Sections like budget, board of governance, team uniform, salary cap (if applicable) need to be discussed. eg, please see Indian cricket team, which is almost a GA article. (It was delisted)
- Undue weight
- IMHO, the records section is excessive and contains some very not so important things like the closest matches, and worst performances and so forth. A fork for List of Lancashire County Cricket Club records is appropriate, retaining only the most important things. At the moment it takes up more than half the article.
- Results should be at the bottom prefereably in tabulated form for aestehtics.
- Future prospects
- This section is written in a newspapery style and there are hints of a POV. If this cannot be expanded, then it should be incorporated into teh contemporary history section.
- Lead
- should be a microcosm of the main body. At the moment about 75% of the lead is about the current list of players and what happened this season. It needs to be more representative.Blnguyen (bananabucket) 07:18, 29 October 2007 (UTC)
More specific things will be provided later if the basics are improved. Happy editing, Blnguyen (bananabucket) 07:18, 29 October 2007 (UTC)
- Since the author seems to be away for a while, I had failed this article. Blnguyen (bananabucket) 05:02, 2 November 2007 (UTC)
Notable players
editI have moved the notable players section from the article to here because it is poorly defined. It does not explain what is notable and is (probably) subject to recentism. For instance, one addition was that of Nathan Astle; he was a fine all round cricketer for New Zealand, and did play for Lancashire, however his impact on the club was very limieted, playing in only a few games and faiiling to do much with bat or ball. This is also a demonstration that it is subject to different points of view, and it would be very difficult to keep the section neutral.
The section is here because it's an interesting list, and maybe at some point it can be readded when each entry is justified and we can ensure NPOV. Also, if these players are really notable to the club, they should be mentioned in the prose of the article and given context for why they are important. There is plenty of scope for articles such as overseas players for Lancashire, Test players for Lancashire, captains of Lancashire etc. Nev1 (talk) 01:42, 9 February 2009 (UTC)

Article name
editThe IP edit just now makes a good point: the article should be moved to Lancashire Cricket Club (over the redirect), no? Seasider53 (talk) 19:14, 30 May 2022 (UTC)

A user left an abandoned draft at User:Mcfc 33/sandbox which might perhaps be merged here. Please would an interested editor assess the material there, incorporate whatever is useful into the live article, then blank that page as WP:COPYARTICLE, and leave a note here when done? – Fayenatic London 12:06, 12 June 2023 (UTC)
