More info
editI have added the bits of information i know however im afraid its not very in depth. The Lancashire Fusiliers fought in the Italian campaign in the Second World War, specifically at Monte Cassino, however i dont know which battalion it was. All the info i have added comes from www.lancs-fusiliers.co.uk--Willski72 (talk) 18:02, 6 September 2009 (UTC)
Siege of Khartoum
editThis reference is not helpful. The Lancashire Fusiliers were not part of the British expedition to relieve Gordon at Khartoum and indeed only the Camel Corps and attached units got within 250 miles of Khartoum. The 2nd Battalion Lancashire Fusiliers, however, did form part of the campaign to reconquer the Sudan in 1898. JF42 (talk) 17:57, 1 July 2015 (UTC)

editHello fellow Wikipedians,
I have just added archive links to one external link on Lancashire Fusiliers. Please take a moment to review my edit. You may add {{cbignore}}
after the link to keep me from modifying it, if I keep adding bad data, but formatting bugs should be reported instead. Alternatively, you can add {{nobots|deny=InternetArchiveBot}}
to keep me off the page altogether, but should be used as a last resort. I made the following changes:
- Attempted to fix sourcing for http://www.regiments.org/deploy/uk/reg-inf/020-1.htm

The 'six VCs before breakfast' were normally referred to in regimental lore as having been won 'at Gallipoli', and an annual parade commemorated the battle honour - as with Minden. Certainly there was also a Cassino link - one of the depot training platoons in the late fifties was 'Cassino platoon'. It would be useful to have the awardees of the six VCs named - and confirmation, here of all places - that they were individually chosen by a vote of the battalion itself, as I seem to remember Moorhouse makes clear. That in itself would be enough to make the regiment's reputation in the British Army unique.Delahays (talk) 13:14, 19 February 2017 (UTC)

Whatever its statutory title, when I was with it for basic training in 1950s National Service, the Regiment was insistent on referring to itself in all documentation as "XX The Lancashire Fusiliers" - a good deal more that three-quarters of a century after Cardwell. Brigading into the "Fusilier Brigade" in 1959 (not often mentioned, but we paraded officially for it and adopted the RNF hackle) lost it the yellow hackle, but made no difference to its own view of its titleDelahays (talk) 12:06, 2 August 2018 (UTC)
